Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to support key financial operations. This role is responsible for managing outsourced accounts payable (AP) processes, vendor setup, invoice entry, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and patient refund processing. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to accuracy and compliance. Effective communication with internal teams and external partners is essential to ensure smooth financial workflows.
This is a hybrid role based in our Oak Brook, IL office working 2 days per week in the office.
Estimated Pay Range: $70 – 85k/year + bonus
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with outsourced AP providers to ensure accurate and timely invoice processing and payments.
Set up and maintain vendor profiles in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Accurately enter invoices into the accounting system, verifying details and resolving discrepancies.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations, investigating and addressing variances.
Regularly reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
Prepare and post journal entries for financial transactions in accordance with GAAP.
Process patient refunds in a timely and compliant manner, ensuring proper documentation.
Ensure adherence to internal controls, GAAP, and regulatory requirements; support audits as needed.
Communicate effectively with internal departments and external vendors to resolve issues and optimize processes.
Perform other accounting-related tasks assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, including AP, reconciliations, and journal entries.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of full-cycle AP processes.
Experience with ERP systems, preferably Workday.
Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Clear and professional communication skills for vendor and team interactions.
Experience in healthcare accounting or patient refund processing is a plus.
