Job Title: Senior Software Engineer I, Full Stack ( Porch Group Media )

Job Summary

The future is bright for the Porch Group, and we’d love for you to be a part of it as our Senior Software Engineer.

The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain complex software systems. They will work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality solutions, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior developers. This role requires a deep understanding of software architecture, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and an ability to handle the full development lifecycle.

What You Will Do As A Senior Software Engine

  • Design and Development: Identify and resolve ambiguity with requirements. Lead the design, development, and implementation of high-quality software solutions.
  • Architect software solutions, creating technical specifications and design documents that meet business requirements.
  • Lead technical discussions and decision-making processes to ensure the team is aligned with best practices and project goals.
  • Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency, balancing long term code health and maintainability with business needs.
  • Work closely with product managers, web engineers, and data engineers to deliver robust software solutions and critical features supporting our consumer experience and data platform. Sets a positive example in interactions, focusing on proactive solutions and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner, using a data-driven approach.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technologies, applying them to improve code quality, performance, and the development process.
  • Participate in agile development processes, including ticket refinement, daily syncs, and retrospectives.

What You Will Bring As A Senior Software Engineer

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of professional software development experience building backend applications, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Ability to work well with people.
  • Ability to communicate, express, and diagram ideas, technical solutions.
  • Strong JVM experience (preferably Scala and Kotlin) in microservice architecture.
  • Strong experience with modern UI frameworks and standards (React, JavaScript, Typescript)
  • Proficiency with SQL and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
  • Experience with Kubernetes or similar containerized software deployment/management tools
  • Experience with development tools such as Git, Docker, Jenkins, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience of data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis
  • Cloud Platforms: Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud); Kubernetes is a plus
  • Familiarity with GraphQL and Apollo a plus
  • Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing frameworks
  • Excellent written and communication skills in English language.
