The incumbent must be capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make minor design adaptations and modifications. This role requires the colleague to set assignments that have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.QualificationsThis role normally requires a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program and typically 6 - 9 years of related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience/advanced degree in engineering) related to plumbing engineering systems in the Built Environment. This includes considerable experience in utilizing various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment. An incumbent in this position should be in possession of a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certification and be working toward Professional Engineering (PE) Registration or Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) designation. This would be attained within the first 2 years of attaining this position level.Duties & Responsibilities - Maintains clear knowledge of HEAPY Corporate Vision, Mission, and Core Values and demonstrates awareness of how those objectives relate to all position responsibilities.

- Responsible for the design engineering services following with Corporate Vision, Mission, and Core Values as well as Corporate ISO Systems View(s), and related professional standards, client requirements, and corporate objectives.
- Collaborates with more experienced engineering colleagues to prepare basic plan details and outlines, cost estimates, and perform calculations in support of broader engineering activities involving the design of plumbing equipment, components, or systems.
- Lays out full plan designs, plan details and outlines, identifies quantities of materials, cost estimates, and performs calculations for a detailed segment of a project.
- Prepares technical specifications for review and approval.
- Evaluates vendors’ bids and drawings to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Reviews and approves plumbing design drawings for assigned segments of project.
- Assists with development of design guides, guide specifications, and design control procedures when directed by Practice Technical Leader.
- Prepares technical reports such as life cycle cost analysis, facility conditions assessments, and other Engineering guidance for clients.
- Performs field tests & measurements, collects field data, as necessary.
- Aids and support to proposal teams or proposal managers as requested.
- Collaborates with and supports Design Engineers / Designer I & II colleagues on their technical development and professional growth.
- Collaborates with field observation colleagues to perform field observations and tests, measurements, collect field data, and prepare field reports and related documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT - Ability to remain sedentary at desk for long periods of time while operating a keyboard and using a computer screen.
- Ability to operate a mouse, stylus, or similar tool to make adjustments on electronic visuals.
- Ability to see details of objects on a screen, including differences in colors, shades, and brightness.
- Ability to communicate in person, electronically and via phone with other individuals.
- Possession of Reliable transportation to and from the project.
- Ability to work in all elements of indoor and outdoor environments which include the heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc.
- Ability to access all areas of the jobsite with activities that include ascending and descending stairs, scaffolding, ladders, navigating elevation changes, etc.
- Capable of working in physical positions that may include maneuvering self into different positions traditionally is achieved by kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, bending over, etc.
- Ability to move, transport, or position items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to apply established protocols and practices in a timely manner. and follow safety guidelines for both company and clients.
- Ability to gather, organize and evaluate information related to projects and calculations (such as cost analysis, facility assessments, design calculations, etc.).
