Are you passionate about global change? Join The Hunger Project UK as a Marketing and Communication Volunteer to empower communities to end hunger. This remote role requests 1 day a week for 6 months.What difference will you make?This role will enable you to make a difference with a global charity that empowers communities to end their own hunger and poverty. Your desire to make the world a better place and will support The Hunger Project’s vision for a world free from hunger and poverty by 2030 and you will be able to work at the heart of international development.What are we looking for?Skills & Experience Required Social Media Expertise Experience with platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn is essential. You’ll support our social channels, creating engaging content and building interaction. Understanding how to tailor posts to specific audiences and maintain brand voice is key. Content Creation Strong writing skills are critical for producing blog posts, newsletters, and campaign materials. You’ll need to communicate clearly and persuasively. Familiarity with content management systems (like WordPress) and email marketing tools (like Mailchimp) is a plus, but training can be provided. Digital Marketing & Campaign Support You’ll assist in creating content and assets for major campaigns and creative thinking is encouraged to ensure we engage supporters and attract new audiences. Time Management Juggling multiple responsibilities—from updating the website to scheduling social media posts—requires excellent organisational skills. Meeting deadlines while delivering high-quality work is key. Collaborative & Adaptable Flexibility and teamwork are essential as you’ll be supporting various marketing activities across a small, fast-paced team. Personal Qualities Proactive & Initiative-Driven We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of tasks, identify opportunities, and run with them. In 2023, 12.4 million people engaged with our programme work across 13 countries in Africa, South Asia and Latin America and over 1 million people are living a hunger-free, self-reliant future thanks to our work. We believe people living in hunger are themselves the key to ending hunger. In partnership, we work with community members to realise their vision, commitment, and leadership so they can feed themselves and their families, and end hunger for good in their communities. We work to solve the root causes of hunger by supporting the communities experiencing them. As we adapt to meet local challenges and opportunities wherever we work, our programmes have a wide range of objectives, such as, ending child marriage, empowering women leaders, increasing girls in education, engaging local governments, entrepreneurism and employability, climate resilient farming and maternal health. You'll work with our UK team and global colleagues to scale our UK activities. As such, you will be pro-active, result driven and have a can-do attitude. Key Responsibilities Support the Marketing & Relationships Manager in daily tasks and workload. Creating exciting content for our Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin pages. Connecting with social media followers, answering questions, and tailoring content to the audience. Setting up regular email campaigns in Mailchimp and checking for accuracy of links etc. Create content and collateral for various marketing campaigns including World Food Day and Christmas. Writing blog posts and updating website using WordPress
