Ability to communicate with different teams, gather requirements, and translate those into simulations and optimizations.

Creativity is essential someone with experience in operations research who can provide innovative solutions.

The project aims to address ongoing supply chain and planning challenges at one of our clients plants, which has struggled to meet goals and faces increasing complexity for the next year. A recent 8-week outage worsened recovery efforts. They are qualifying new sources for other plants, but the process varies by customer. The hiring manager was brought in to assist after issues with shipment predictions, and discussions with leadership revealed a need for better oversight of planning processes, which are currently fragmented.

The Solution (In Development)

Hiring manager is considering two approaches (seeking counsel on this):

• Simulation-Based Model: To run simulations at various plants, allowing input adjustments to see different outcomes.
• Optimization: Using linear programming to create an optimized process.
  
  

Both need the same inputs, and they know how to execute them, but the models are still basic. The project is expected to span 12+ weeks to deliver by year-end.
