As a Principal Database Administrator in OutSystems R&D, you’ll be a member of the group of teams responsible for developing the next generation of capabilities of our Platform, in the context of database management.

About This Role
As a Principal Database Administrator in OutSystems R&D, you’ll be a member of the group of teams responsible for developing the next generation of capabilities of our Platform, in the context of database management.

Job Responsibilities And Expectations
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and secure database solutions mainly delivered using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and methodologies;
- Manage and optimize databases across PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle;
- Ensure high availability and automate disaster recovery solutions for critical databases, such as database backup and recovery process;
- Perform and automate database tuning, indexing, and query optimization to improve performance;
- Collaborate with software developers, architecture, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support and enforce database best practices embedded into our development practices;
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate database solutions within the existing Architecture to streamline the deployment process to be autonomous;
- Conduct regular database security assessments and implement necessary measures to safeguard data.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior DBAs and other team members.
- Stay current with the latest database technologies and trends to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide last-line troubleshooting of complex incidents, providing timely support on database-related issues having to be part of on-call rotations.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar;
- 10+ years of experience in database administration with a focus on PostgreSQL, SQL Server and Oracle;
- Proven experience as a DBA in managing large-scale, mission-critical database environments;
- Expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies;
- Strong knowledge of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions;
- Proficiency in database security best practices and compliance requirements;
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues;
- Strong communication and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset;
- Ability to mentor and provide technical leadership to a team of DBAs.
- Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, etc);
- Certification in SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL is a plus;
- Drive to innovate and bring development best practices into your team;
- Drive to understand what are the upcoming technologies and frameworks;
- Good communication skills and fluency in English;
- Availability be part of an on-call rotation;
- Coding skills in C# (.Net Core) are a plus, with an emphasis on using these skills for database solutions.
- Coding skills in Terraform and Go are a plus, particularly for IaC and backend integration.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Grafana, and CI/CD pipelines;
