The Director of Editorial will develop our future-state content strategy and work with LRUS senior leaders and internal development teams to drive execution. This will require both an editorial and technological mindset to identify how best to leverage GenAI and new publishing technologies across editorial and writing processes while still maintaining our market-leading SME coverage, insights, and differentiation.A critical component will be to drive culture change—moving from a “print release” to a digital-first, GenAI-powered paradigm in which content is updated more real-time based upon legal events. The Director will also lead the team in expanding our Regulatory coverage to new and emerging areas of Law and help develop new products in close collaboration with Product Management.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
- Develop and execute a content strategy that aligns with Product Management and LRUS goals and objectives.
- Lead a team of legal writers and editors some of whom may work with external writers to create high-quality, cutting-edge content across 20+ practice areas.
- Work with team to develop thought leadership pieces (e.g., white papers) that expose to the market our industry-leading deep domain expertise
- Work with colleagues and Marketing to develop a process for writers and editors to increase the volume of social media posts and promotional activities.
- Integrate GenAI tooling into new writing processes that will enable greater productivity, scalability, and flexibility.
- Collaborate with Product Management in transforming our traditional products to timelier, more discrete treatments of legal developments and impacts to meet the changing demands of our customers.
- Stay abreast of emerging industry trends and developments, and devise and execute plans to upgrade content accordingly.
- Implement online-centric writing, editing, and quality standards in alignment with Product Architecture. Key contributor in setting these standards.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of content; use this information to make data-driven decisions and improve content strategies.
- Manage and allocate resources efficiently and effectively to ensure staff is focused on high-value work. Identify opportunities to outsource or offshore lower value-add work.
- Ensure all content is compliant with legal regulations and ethical standards.
- Implement best practices and KPIs to manage performance.
- Maintain a positive and collaborative team environment that encourages creativity and innovation.

Job Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts degree
- JD or equivalent strongly preferred
Experience
- 10+ years editorial experience, with knowledge of US legal publishing industry, required
- 8+ years experience managing editorial teams
- Deep understanding of editorial and content creation processes within publishing
- Knowledge of, and experience working with, GenAI and new editorial tooling and technology

Compensation:
