The Opportunity

Within Aeroflow, the Data Operations team is comprised of passionate data professionals dedicated to innovation. Our engineers collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical leads to create quality data products for our internal customers. As a Sr. Dashboard Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of these efforts, leveraging your expertise in Business Intelligence and Data Visualization to elevate the value of our data across the company.

In this role, you won’t just build dashboards—you’ll coach, mentor, and lead a Center of Excellence for dashboarding across the organization. You’ll collaborate closely with business leaders and data professionals to drive data literacy and ensure that our dashboards not only meet but exceed the standards of quality and impact.

Your Primary Responsibilities

  • Dashboard Design and Development (25%): Design gold-standard dashboards that clearly communicate company KPIs. Your dashboards will set the benchmark for what’s possible and inspire others to strive for the same level of excellence in their work.
  • Coaching and Education (25%): Be a mentor to our Data and Business Analysts, helping them understand how to create impactful, business-driven dashboards. You will guide them in translating complex data into user-friendly visuals.
  • Dashboard Review and QA (25%): Provide constructive feedback on dashboards created by others, helping to refine and optimize their work while maintaining consistency and best practices across the organization.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement (25%): Partner closely with department heads and their analysts, understanding their business needs and ensuring that your dashboards align with their goals. You'll act as the public-facing arm of the Data Operations team.

Skills for Success

  • Coaching Ability: You are a natural mentor, passionate about helping others improve their data visualization skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong command of modern dashboarding tools like QuickSight and Looker Studio. You should have experience building advanced dashboards that go beyond the basics, incorporating custom formulas and innovative designs.
  • Salesmanship: You’re not just a technical expert—you’re also skilled at “selling” your dashboards to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that your work has maximum impact.
  • Storytelling: Exceptional storytelling skills that translate data into compelling narratives that drive decision-making.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve dashboard challenges.
  • Leadership: Ability to mentor and coach junior analysts embedded in the business units, fostering a data-driven culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in dashboard development, data visualization, and a proven track record of delivering impactful solutions.
  • Data Modeling and ELT: Experience with data modeling and familiarity with ELT processes, including tools like DBT and Snowflake.
  • SQL Proficiency: Expertise in SQL and other data query languages to support your dashboarding efforts.

Additional Qualifications

  • Storyboarding and Presentation Skills: Capable of distilling complex data insights into digestible formats for a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Organization and Prioritization: Well-organized with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent communicator who can simplify complex ideas and build strong relationships across teams.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking individuals who are motivated and excited to:

  • Drive data literacy and competence throughout the organization.
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  • Support efforts to improve data governance while also helping the company grow its data capabilities.

What Aeroflow Offers

  • Comprehensive Benefits: Competitive pay, health plans with FSA or HSA options, dental, and vision insurance, optional life insurance, and 401K with company match.
  • Parental Leave: 12 weeks of parental leave for birthing parents and 4 weeks for non-birthing parents, along with fertility stipends, free diapers, and breast pumps.
