Position: GIS Specialist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced GIS Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Smallworld, Magik programming, and a strong background in utilities (electric, gas, telecom). You will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and interpreting spatial data related to utility networks, as well as developing and maintaining our VMDS database.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize Smallworld GIS and Magik programming to develop and maintain spatial data for utility networks.
Manage and update the VMDS database, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
Perform spatial analysis and provide insights for utility operations, planning, and decision-making.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to integrate GIS data with other utility management systems.
Create and maintain detailed maps, charts, and reports for electric, gas, and telecommunications networks.
Conduct quality control and assurance checks on GIS data and processes.
Troubleshoot and resolve GIS-related issues, providing technical support to internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and implement custom GIS applications and tools to enhance operational efficiency.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in GIS technologies and utility management.
Qualifications:
Proven experience with Smallworld GIS and Magik programming.
Strong knowledge of utility networks (electric, gas, telecom) and related GIS applications.
Proficiency in managing and updating VMDS databases.
Experience with spatial analysis and GIS data integration.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with additional GIS software and programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) is a plus.
