Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC SYPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2284P01 and is part of the IL 126, National Guard.

Major Duties:

  • As a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC SYPERVISOR (TITLE 32), WS-2610-13, you will supervise employees who install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Serve as section supervisor, exercising supervisory responsibility over assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations. Supervise employees involved in the maintenance, repair, and modification of integrated multi-complex avionics systems. Plan use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities and materials. Establish deadlines and priorities and work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors. Determine the sequence, priority, and time for the performance of operations within the limits of broad work schedules and time limits. Determine the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects. Participate with superiors in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work. Investigate work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes; implements corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems.

Qualifications: AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), the only area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. Military Grades: Minimum Rank E7 - Maximum Rank E8 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess skills in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; ability to communicate clearly and effectively; skills in duties such as, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes; ability to format and write English in reports and presentation formats; skills in presenting formal training presentations and briefings; skills in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting material; skills in training, mentoring, leading, and problem-solving. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WS-13 Level MUST possess at least 36 months of specialized working experiences in performing, training and/or supervising assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations; working and training experiences in the maintenance, repair, and modification of integrated multi-complex avionics systems; skill in planning tasks for subordinate workers and expanded knowledge in using the equipment, facilities and materials; skills in meeting deadlines, in using time management to satisfy priorities and work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors; experience included redirecting individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work; skills in articulating work requirements to higher level supervisors and experienced in planning current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommending projected work; competent in researching and addressing work related problems such as, excessive costs or low productivity; and, determining the relevant causes; experience included implementing corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems. SPECIALIZED SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: MUST possess skill and knowledge to plan work and manage leave schedules; capability included the ability to determine the types and levels of training needs, along with providing mentorship and guidance to subordinates for their professional skill and knowledge improvements; experience in writing FWS 2610 performance standards and provided subordinates with formal appraisals of their work performance; experience involved advising and counseling workers on how to improve their performance through explanations and demonstrations of work techniques; work efforts included initiating recommendations for promotion or reassignment of subordinates to senior supervisors; competent in reviewing job descriptions for accuracy and clarity; knowledgeable in the correct methods used to investigate, analyze, and resolve grievances and complaints; experience involved providing recommendations for disciplinary actions; skills in applying interview techniques and understanding of body language patterns; experience included interviewing candidates for vacancies and recommending selections to higher level supervisors; skill in conducting environmental safety requirements and identifying equipment handling concerns that resulted in observed safety and housekeeping practices; experience included compliance with wearing the appropriate safety equipment and following pertinent safety precautions; skills and knowledgeable of management objectives and programs, that included addressing labor-management relations, Equal Employment Opportunity, internal controls, safety, energy conservation, environmental controls, and property accountability; skill in writing and presenting work reports and maintaining accurate records; experience in participating in readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises; experience may have included work that involved accident/mishap responses, shift supervision, special project management, heavy equipment operations, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or served as a team member that responded to natural disasters or civil emergencies. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
