Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is currently hiring a Registered Nurse for Cornell 3- our MedSurg Unit! This is a Flexi Day shift position (12 hour) in Charlottesville, VA. One of the best staffed Medical/Surgical units in the state!

Cornell 3 is a 24-bed medical-surgical unit that specializes in post-operative care for a diverse patient population, focusing on Bariatric surgeries (Gastric Sleeves and Bypass), abdominal surgeries (Colon Resections, Ostomy Creation), reconstructive surgeries (Breast Reconstruction), gynecological surgeries (Hysterectomy and Myomectomy), and comprehensive wound care (Ostomy Care and Wound Vacs). We are a new grad and experienced nurse-friendly unit that prioritizes compassionate, individualized care, blending the extensive resources of a major medical center with the warmth of a community hospital. Nurses work 12-hour shifts with weekend rotations, maintaining a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5 or 1:6, depending on acuity, and receive support from Resource Nurses and Patient Care Technicians, led by a dedicated team of Unit Coordinators and Nurse Managers. We are committed to fostering career growth opportunities within our collaborative team, enabling nurses to enhance their skills while delivering exceptional patient-centered care.

Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• Registered Nurse License
• BLS Required within 90 days of hire.

Job Summary

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
