Recreation Assistant (Outdoor) NF-02

Salary Range: $15.0 - $17.0 Per Hour

Job Summary: This position is located at Fort Gregg-Adams, VA - Outdoor Recreation. Major Duties:

• Works under general supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Manager or Recreation Specialist as a Recreation Assistant.
• Instructs groups and individuals in a variety of outdoor recreation programs, such as but not limited to: rafting, rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, challenge course, using a variety of teaching methods.
• Responsible for group management. The safety of the participants must always be the number one priority. Must be familiar with all programs offered by Outdoor Recreation and the local area.
• Reports any problems to the Outdoor Recreation Manager or Recreation Specialist as soon as possible in order to maintain a high quality service to guests.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: *This experience must be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position.* Must have knowledge of and experience in a wide variety of Outdoor Recreation pursuits. HIGHLY PREFERRED are applicants who possess the minimum qualifications above AND ALL the following: Pursuit of a degree in Recreation Management, Outdoor Recreation, or a related field. In the process of completing an internship or fieldwork program. *The experience/education must be reflected on your resume to be considered a highly preferred candidate. **Applicants meeting the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred first to the Selecting Official.
