Position: Advanced Practice Provider (ACNP/PA-C) – Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit

Location: The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD

 

Position Overview:

The Johns Hopkins Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (ACNP or PA-C) to join our team in managing adult cardiac surgery patients in the Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU). This 32-bed unit specializes in adult cardiovascular surgical care, including coronary artery bypass, valve repairs and replacements, aortic dissections. The unit offers three levels of care: floor, telemetry, and intermediate.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive care for CVPCU inpatients as first call for cardiac surgery patients
  • Manage cardiac surgery admissions from the ICU and ED, cardiac surgery consults
  • Removal of chest tubes and wires
  • Collaborate with Cardiac Surgery Fellows, Cardiac Surgeons, and Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit intensivists for support

Shifts:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • 13.5-hour shifts, with weekend
  • Weekend, holiday and minimal night shift required

Qualifications:

  • For ACNP: Completion of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program and national certification.
  • For PA-C: Completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant Program and board certification or certification-eligible by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Licensed by the MD Board of Physicians (for PA-C) or relevant state board (for ACNP).
  • CDS (prescription) and DEA (narcotics) licensure required.
  • BLS Health Care Provider CPR certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted).
  • Critical care or cardiac surgery experience preferred.
  • PECOS enrollment required.

 

Salary Range: Minimum 55.81/hour - Maximum 86.51/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
