What you get to do:
As an Assistant Supervisor for the Day and Resident camp programs, you’ll make a significant contribution to our overall camper experience by helping train and mentor camp counselors; supervise the day-to-day operations of the camp programs; and create a healthy and safe environment for both campers and staff. In all you do, you’ll enthusiastically represent SeaWorld by displaying a positive attitude, high level of energy and commitment to quality. You will also:

  • Demonstrate high quality guest service skills, and represent education programs effectively
  • Conducts camp counselor performance evaluations and provides coaching
  • Participates in staff training.
  • Supervises and is responsible for day-to-day operations, scheduling, and logistics of camp programs.
  • Monitors the health and safety of campers and camp counselors.
  • Responsible for opening/closing the Day Camp and Resident Camp programs as the Duty Manager
  • Ensures excellent customer service by responding to customer requirements, expectations, and needs.
  • Monitors and enforces all SeaWorld and department policies.
  • Adheres to ACA guidelines and SeaWorld Camp standards
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to safety requirements.
  • Mentor and coach camp counselors.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What it takes to succeed:

  • At least 19 years old
  • Knowledge, Education, and Training
  • Prior experience working with children.
  • A high school diploma, or equivalent: Education, Recreation, Early Childhood Development, Biology, Zoology and/or related college coursework preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-6 months experience as a camp director and/or assistant director and/or program activity director at a day or resident camp or equivalent counselor experience
  • A valid California driver’s license; visiting students and military must have valid driver’s license from state of residency with a good driving record and able to provide a copy of the DMV report
  • Able to demonstrate strong verbal communication skills and enthusiastically share a passion for the environment with our guests.
  • Demonstrate high quality guest service skills, and ability to speak knowledgably about education programs.
  • Able to engage, motivate and interact with children and adults.
  • Proficient in talking on a microphone to large crowds of guests.
  • Multilingual a plus.
  • Comfortable being evaluated and accepting feedback.
  • Able to respond quickly to safety issues and practice safe working habits.
  • Able to maintain composure and objectivity in all situations when interacting with guests.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights, if needed.
  • Stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing)
  • Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors, and cold/heat temperature extremes and salt water .
  • Perform cleaning duties; including use of cleaning chemicals
  • Must be flexible in work locations as placement will depend on business needs and career development opportunities
  • Must be able to ride park attractions including water attractions.
  • May be required to live on-site during entire camp season.

Compensation:

  • 17.25 USD per hour
