Major Duties:
- As a Mission Support Specialist, at full performance level, you will perform the following duties: Provide comprehensive advisory and technical services on substantive organizational functions and work practices. Research, review, analyze, compare and contrast of established policies. Apply a wide range of administrative programs concepts, laws, policies, practices, and analytical/ diagnostic methods and techniques. Compile and report policy related data for review by leadership to impact future policy needs. You have the opportunity to identify three location preferences within the area of responsibility. Note that multiple duty locations fall within the area of responsibility (AOR) of each SAC office. Please view the duty locations within each SAC AOR here. Your location preferences are NOT guaranteed. The duty locations offered will be based on the needs of the agency. You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Providing support to program staff during the development of projects or programs; Assisting with tracking mechanisms to track workflow within the unit using automated systems; Analyzing inquiries and determining what information is required and the possible sources for the data requested; OR Education: A master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a LL.B/J.D., if related. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed graduate level education beyond the first full year and experience as described above that when combined meets 100% of the requirement. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Developing supportable conclusions based on standardized research; Providing technical support and advice to program staff during the development of projects and solving complex issues; Researching and analyzing documents from several sources and studies; Establishing systems and processes to manage internal and external policy development requests and revision to existing methods. OR Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a LL.M., if related. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and activities necessary to do the work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed graduate education beyond the first full two years and experience as described above that when combined meets 100% of the requirement. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Performing management advisory services for specific requests related to immediate problems of limited scope. Resolving a moderate range of problems or situations requiring the use of established analytical techniques. Assisting in ensuring the organization's ability to respond to major changes in business models and new technologies. Applying a wide range of administrative programs concepts, laws, policies, practices, and analytical/ diagnostic methods and techniques.
