As part of the Spanish Operation Centre, you will be part of a team supporting project execution, including the design, manufacturing, and delivery of such technologies all over Europe.
As Team Leader you will lead the Team of Primary Engineers within Hitachi Energy Grid Integration, Operation Center, Madrid. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will drive team collaboration and performance to ensure that safety, integrity, financial and contractual requirements are met, and customer expectations are exceeded.
How you’ll make an impact
Lead Engineering Team: Oversee Primary, Steel, and Civil Engineering for HV/MV Substations and Power Quality Solutions. Ensure timely and complete delivery of Engineering Work Packages, focusing on safety, quality, and budget.
Engineering Support: Establish and maintain support setups with internal customer-facing Operating Units (OU’s) across continental Europe.
Customer Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with internal customer-facing OU’s, seek feedback, and provide innovative solutions during tendering and project execution phases.
Resource Management: Ensure Project Teams are adequately resourced, developed, and equipped to meet business needs.
Contract and System Management: Ensure contracts are well understood and required systems are correctly implemented.
Collaboration with Procurement & Logistics: Work with the Procurement & Logistics team to ensure the availability of correct suppliers, services, and equipment.
Best Practices and Competency Development: Facilitate best practice sharing within the engineering team and develop competencies and skills to meet current and future demands. Ensure the team is properly organized, staffed, and continuously developed.
Employee Development: Guide, motivate, coach, and develop employees within HR policies.
Process Improvement: Implement, develop, and improve engineering processes based on HUB EU and global PG Engineering instructions. Identify gaps and derive mitigation activities to improve effectiveness.
Networking and Continuous Improvement: Develop a network within the Engineering Management Team of the Europe HUB and drive continuous improvement activities.
Financial Planning and Budget Management: Support financial plans creation and budget estimation for tenders, projects, and own cost center. Regularly review actual cost development and initiate mitigation measures for budget gaps. Apply entrepreneurial thinking for tenders, projects, and local units.
Your background
University degree in Engineering (electrical engineering highly preferred)
5 to 10 years’ experience as Primary Engineer, Lead Engineer, previous Engineering Manager experience is a plus.
Knowledge of substation technology for AIS, GIS and Hybrid Technology Switchgear. Understanding of the Engineering tasks in Primary, Secondary, Steel and Civil Engineering; expert knowledge in Substations.
Multifunctional experience with handling plant/system projects beyond pure engineering tasks; experience in dealing with engineering project delivery and Industrial/Power sector and multinational environment
Attitude in leading & motivating a team in a multi country collaboration setup with a focus on policy, capability, effectivity and people development.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
Fluent in both English and Spanish.
