THE ROLE
At Sotheby’s we use data to improve business decisions in the art and luxury commerce space. We are looking for an experienced data and analytics manager to help us automate and optimize our unified data layer across our consumer applications. As the Analytics Manager for product and technology, you will drive integration efforts from kickoff to completion and serve as the technical owner of key tagging and data mapping workflows. You will turn business questions from stakeholders into detailed and documented tracking specifications across all platforms. You will be a key player in transforming us into a data driven organization.
In this role you will apply your technical expertise, business strategy acumen, and project management skills to lead new data-driven approaches for delivering actionable business insights, and unlocking the value of our data. You will drive the data layer development process as an integrated member of the teams you support. Your goal is to facilitate a self-serve analytics culture, and work cross functionally as new features and enhancements are released to ensure that key success metrics are identified and tracked.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the strategy and operations of our data pipelines, how we use Segment, funneling data into the right places, etc.
- Drive scope and requirements for data tracking and tagging architecture for our various products.
- Work with product managers and development teams to execute Segment implementations.
- Develop actionable insights on customer onsite behavior that guide business decisions while prioritizing across business units and other stakeholders
- Build repeatable frameworks for adding Segment tracking and reporting for new products developed by Sotheby’s.
- Gathering requirements from stakeholders, doing exploratory data analysis, building models or analytics dashboards for jointly developed KPIs, and automating deployment of actionable insights to the business
- Provide recommendations for A/B and multivariate testing
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Direct experience with implementations of Segment analytics in world class organizations.
- Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Analytics, CS, or other quantitative field preferred OR 4+ years stellar track record in business or product analytics
- 4+ years professional experience ideally in a B2C business
- 3+ years experience as a data analyst, business analyst, or product analyst with Segment implementations (must have strong product and user experience sense)
- 2+ years experience with enterprise analytic and data analysis platforms like Google Analytics/Omniture/Site Catalyst/Adobe Analytics/
- Experience with modern analytic tools - like Amplitude, Optimizely, Segment, Braze, Tableau, Sigma, Data Studio, etc.
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills. Has ability to craft a compelling story and concisely present recommendations across teams and levels
- Able to work with little supervision and meet deadlines on a consistent basis
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
