Job Description

The Vice President of Cloud Engineering will provide strategic leadership for our DevOps and infrastructure teams, spearheading the creation and implementation of a comprehensive DevOps strategy focused on Microsoft Azure and AWS technologies. This role is crucial in driving Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Cloud Operations, and DevOps transformation while fostering a culture of innovation and operational excellence.

Strategic Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor DevOps and SRE teams to maintain exceptional system availability, reliability, and performance

  • Drive organizational transformation by cultivating a culture of agility, collaboration, and continuous learning

  • Develop and execute comprehensive SRE and CloudOps strategies aligned with business objectives

  • Work with engineering and DevOps teams to implement secure CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps best practices.

Cloud Operations & Infrastructure

  • Oversee complex migration initiatives, including on-premises to cloud and cloud-to-cloud transitions

  • Manage Cloud Operations (CloudOps) on Azure and AWS, optimizing resource utilization, cost efficiency, and security

  • Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation

  • Continue to advance the state of the monitoring and alerting systems

  • Oversee high-performance database systems and data platforms

  • Establish and optimize CI/CD pipelines utilizing Azure DevOps Pipeline, Jenkins, and AWS CodePipeline

Performance & Security Management

  • Monitor system performance and implement proactive improvement strategies

  • Ensure robust security measures and compliance with industry standards

  • Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure costs while maintaining scalability

  • Lead incident response and resolution for critical production issues

  • Oversee cloud vulnerability management programs, ensuring proactive identification, prioritization, and remediation of security risks.

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and frameworks (HIPAA, HITRUST, NIST).

  • Drive cloud security automation to enforce policies and mitigate human error risks.

Cross-functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with software development teams to integrate DevOps practices into the development lifecycle

  • Partner with security, compliance, and architecture teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred)

  • Minimum 10+ years of technology experience with 5+ years in senior leadership roles

  • Proven track record leading SRE, CloudOps, and DevOps initiatives at scale

Technical Expertise

  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud platforms

  • Comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation tools

  • Advanced experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Advanced experience in Monitoring and Alerting systems (Grafana)

  • Strong understanding of database systems and modern data platforms

  • Expertise in cloud security, compliance, and risk management

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Exceptional team leadership and mentoring abilities

  • Strong track record of driving organizational change and digital transformation

  • Excellence in stakeholder management and communication

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and strategic thinking capabilities

  • Experience managing relationships with major cloud providers
