Description
The Assistant Nurse Manager is a registered nurse with accountability for clinical care of a designated patient care service area. Responsible for Assessing, identifying, planning, implementing, and evaluating the processes, technology, personnel, and facility needs required to achieve patient outcomes safely in a patient centered environment. The Assistant Nurse Manager will also assume the role of Nurse Manager in her absence will assist the Nurse Manager in providing leadership and supervision to the Nursing staff.
Requirements
- Implements patient care activities in conjunction with the Nurse Manager and members of the healthcare team
- Assists in the evaluation of quality and effectiveness of nursing care administered to patients, and makes recommendations for improvement to the Nurse Manager
- Monitors selection and use of unit supplies, technology and equipment
- Assures that all unit staff are informed of medical centers developments and participates with the patient care area planning and problem solving
- Conducts /facilitates leadership and care team meetings, demonstrates ability to achieve meeting outcomes. Maintains records of minutes
- Coordinates ER referrals
- Records, reports and interprets client responses and collaborates with appropriate members of the health team in the Family Practice
- Reads and implements current nursing policies and standards written in nursing literature
- Participates in the department's performance improvement activities
- Assumes responsibilities in the absence of the Nurse Manager, including hiring, termination and evaluation of employees
QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Nursing or equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in clinical setting (ambulatory care setting a plus)
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience
- Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred
- Licensed Registered Nurse in New York State
- Current BCLS
- Current Infection Control
- Current Child Abuse Certificate
