Position Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt 20 hours/week, paid holidays, paid sick leave
Key Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
Youth Empowerment Responsibilities:
Provide instruction and develop curriculum for youth with disabilities to
support their transition from student life to adulthood through workshops,
individual counseling, and other methods in areas such as independent
living and pre-employment skills.
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate youth-focused events and workshops;
assist in organizing larger-scale events such as conferences.
Establish and maintain a network of contacts with special education staff,
resource specialists, and program coordinators in local school districts
and colleges.
Serve on community advisory boards or committees as appropriate and
collaborate with community leaders to increase opportunities for youth
with disabilities.
Create and maintain accurate documentation for all youth participants,
including parental consent forms for individuals under 18.
Assistive Technology Responsibilities:
Respond to consumer inquiries related to assistive technology and provide
information and referral services via phone, email, and in person.
Gather, organize, and maintain information on a wide range of assistive
technology topics in a ready-reference format.
Build connections with local professionals in the assistive technology field
and support community-based goals and activities related to assistive
technology.
Assist with AT demonstrations for consumers and community members at
resource fairs, schools, local organizations, businesses, and agency events.
Develop and maintain an accurate inventory of assistive technology
equipment in the organizational database.
Assist in the development of annual AT program goals and strategies.
Complete all necessary Consumer Service Record (CSR) documentation
and other database entries in a timely manner.
Assemble and/or repair durable medical equipment as needed.
Stay current on emerging assistive technology trends and maintain
knowledge of resources available to people with disabilities across all
service areas.
Carry out all other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of
the organization.
