Northwood is seeking a Test Manager to lead the design, development, and execution of our hardware and software testing processes. This role is critical in ensuring that all electronics hardware - from power supplies and timing circuits to RF, FPGA, and SOC systems - meets our rigorous quality standards before deployment.

The ideal candidate will bring a 50/50 mix of hardware and software expertise, enabling them to bridge disciplines and integrate testing seamlessly across product lifecycles. You will manage and grow the test engineering function, collaborate closely with our software, electrical, and RF teams, and provide actionable insights that directly inform product design, manufacturing, and field performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with software, electrical, and RF engineering teams to ensure test processes align with product requirements and development cycles

  • Create hardware and software test specifications and plans in partnership with responsible engineers

  • Design and operationalize custom test setups and tes beds for electronics hardware, ensuring they scale from prototypes to production.

  • Develop and maintain test automation frameworks in Python or similar languages for hardware verification and data logging

  • Oversee system design of test setups, including component selection, fabrication, integration, and calibration

  • Analyze failures, lead root cause investigations, and drive corrective actions with cross-functional teams

  • Implement data pipelines for automated test result collection, visualization, and reporting

  • Conduct environmental, stress, and life testing to validate hardware robustness and identify potential failure points

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in test engineering, hardware development, or related roles (including leadership experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Proven track record of designing and deploying hardware test systems and developing automated test software

  • Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for test automation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing and mentoring test engineers or cross-functional technical teams

  • Familiarity with ECAD and MCAD tools

  • Experience in RF test systems or high-reliability hardware environments

  • Background in scaling test systems from prototype to production
