Job Summary
Leads daily operations at the Torrance plant, overseeing production, shipping, and logistics teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role manages budgets, coordinates production with maintenance, drives continuous improvement, and ensures adherence to HESQ and PSM standards. The position requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and technical expertise, with a focus on safety, quality, and meeting customer delivery commitments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities with % Breakdown:
Department Management – 35%
•Lead Production, Shipping, and Receiving teams, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance management to ensure safe, efficient operations and on-time customer deliveries.
•Oversee scheduling, attendance, and compliance with company policies while fostering a culture of empowerment and accountability.
•Support strategic goal-setting, serve as backup to the Plant Manager, and act as media contact as needed.
•Ensure consistent implementation of work processes, operating discipline, and management systems.
Production – 30%
•Coordinate resources to meet production forecasts, manage budgets, and drive continuous improvement in processes, quality, and safety.
•Collaborate with Supply Chain, Sales, and Maintenance to align production with operational needs and planned/unplanned maintenance.
•Monitor daily production, shipping, and product quality, and implement corrective actions as required.
•Prepare operational reports and participate in incident investigations to ensure corrective measures are executed.
Health, Environmental, Safety, and Quality (HESQ) – 25%
•Ensure regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance, including PSM standards, and oversee departmental HES training.
•Lead incident investigations and loss control programs, acting as incident commander when needed.
•Manage proper handling and disposal of waste streams and execute Management of Change (MOC) processes.
Other Duties – 10%
•Serve as site SMART Coordinator and provide input on strategic decisions, including the plant operations budget.
•Support plant process engineering and fulfill other duties as assigned, including on-call responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications and Education Required
•Minimum 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment or chemical plant.
•Previous supervisory experience is required.
•Process Safety Experience (PHA, LOPA, Safety Instrumented Systems)
•Root Cause Investigation Experience (TapRoot, Cause Mapping preferred)
•Experience with HES Performance & Compliance, PSM, RMP
•Solid understanding of both technical and financial impacts of process-related decisions.
Education and area of focus
•Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or relevant field of study.

•Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of plant, technical and management personnel.
•Experience with PSM covered processes required.
•Process Safety experience (PHA, LOPA, Safety Instrument Systems) preferred
•Strong communication skills (written and verbal); ability to work with limited supervision.
•Expertise in Microsoft Office and other PC applications; SAP experience desired.
•Good knowledge of ISO certifications and mechanical integrity programs.
•Lean / Six Sigma experience desired.
•Ability to work with others internally and externally with professionalism.
•Excellent organizational skills.
•Responsible for following all AIMS HESQ policies & practices (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001)
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Located in a Chemical plant.
On occasion must lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders. Expected to be present in the field. Will be expected to flex schedule at times to spend ample time with all shifts. Must be capable of entering confined spaces and occasionally expected to use tools such as valve wrenches.
