The City of Rancho Cucamonga is looking to hire a Youth and Family Community Services Specialist for a part-time position, working up to 32 hours a week. This role involves leading teams of other part-time staff members to plan and implement various Community Services Department programs and events.
This work assignment will involve administrative tasks focused on program planning and preparation, including support of part-time frontline staff who directly deliver programs to the community.
The position will also collaborate with the Program Coordinator to create staff schedules, monitor vendor contracts, and perform other duties related to the administration and oversight of community programs and events.

The department operates the Epicenter Sports Complex, RC Family Resource Center, RC Sports Center, Victoria Gardens Cultural Center, Goldy S. Lewis Community Center, and James L. Brulte Senior Center. In addition to the above-listed facilities, more than 30 different parks are open to the community for passive use, park shelters and event rentals, hiking trails, athletic fields, and city-planned special events.

Youth and Family Specialist: Under the direction of the Community Services Supervisor and Coordinator, this position assists in overseeing operations, logistics, and planning for the Youth and Family Division including the annual Summer Camp program. Responsibilities include supporting the planning and execution of division programs and events, developing lesson plans for the seasonal Youth Summer Camp, and managing the Trips and Tours program. The role also involves seeking community partners to provide programs and services for youth. Additional duties may include assisting with city-wide events, Youth and Family programs, Human Services programs, Contract Classes, Facility Management, and other related services as needed.
Must have the ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Education and/or Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age, have an education equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade, and have a minimum of one year of experience in the coordination of cultural or recreation programs or activities or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and programs common to the field of recreation and cultural arts; methods for identifying community recreation needs. Ability to effectively work with people having varied socio-economic standings; prepare concise written and oral reports; promote recreation or cultural programs; supervise volunteers.
Special Requirements:
Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequent standing and sitting. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper; occasional lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials. Moving from place to place within the office; some reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal occasionally.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Generally clean work environment with limited exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, odors, or noise. Travel throughout the City is required. Work schedule may include evenings and weekends.
