SHIFT CHARGE ENGINEER - UTILITIES MODULE
Position: Shift Charge Engineer - Utilities (Power Generation, Gas Compression & Waste Heat Recovery)
Division / Department:
Operations & Maintenance (OM)/Midstream (MID)/Gas Conditioning Plant (PGCP
Location: Prestea, Western Region, Ghana (West Africa)
OBJECTIVE: The Shift Charge Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant in order to ensure the proper distribution of power and management of waste and water to the entire gas processing plant while ensuring the highest standards of safety, environmental responsibility, and operational efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
ENGINEERING, PROCUREMENT & CONSTRUCTION (EPC)
- Assist the EPC Project Team during the Construction, Installation and Commissioning Phase:
- Provide support with the review of Authorized For Construction drawings (AFCs), P&IDs, and commissioning checklists.
- Provide support with the review of all Red Lines and As Built Drawings to confirm accuracy and compliance with original designs and modifications.
- Propose recommendations to the HSE team to develop strategies to improve health, safety, and environmental standards at all production systems.
- Provide support with ensuring that warranty and punch list issues are effectively managed after commissioning of the plant.
- Provide support with ensuring adherence with quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) standards.
OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE (OM)
- Assist the Operations Superintendent with the resolution of technical and operational issues:
- Investigation of operational incidents and development of corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure that all issues and incidents are reported, investigated, and documented.
- Log all relevant information into the CMMS.
- For all activities that require a permit to work, prepare the supporting documentation.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of utilities module’s equipment, buildings, and infrastructure:
- Power generation system, power distribution and receiving system (including PDCS, MCCS etc.).
- Cooling water and raw water processing systems.
- Residue gas compression system.
- Instrument air and nitrogen systems.
- Water management system.
- Perform control room operations with regards to switching and isolation processes.
- Oversee daily readings of assets.
- Perform routine equipment inspections to detect abnormal conditions.
- Support and comply with all process safety management and risk management plan practices (EIS, PSM, MOC, etc.):
- Keep plant hazard analysis current and display thorough knowledge of possible hazards and associated safeguards.
- Maintain required regulatory documentation.
- Work to achieve our goal of "Zero Accidents".
- Support the Reliability Team to execute predictive and preventive maintenance to eliminate catastrophic failures and unplanned maintenance.
PROCUREMENT & LOGISTICS
- Assist the Operations Superintendent in providing the necessary input and specifications for all Purchase & Service Order Agreements related to operations consumables.
- Assist the Operations Superintendent in planning and securing the acquisition of materials and services required for the operation of the plant.
ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Propose training and development program for staff in line with technical and business needs.
- Carry out performance appraisals and development plans with subordinate staff.
- Coordinate the rotational schedule (on and off duty) of subordinate staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSc in Mechanical, Electrical, or Control & Instrumentation Engineering.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 4+ years of experience in operations of power, gas, or any heavy process engineering plants.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants, including Process Safety Management, OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, EEOC guidelines, and other federal and local requirements.
- Familiarity with Instrumentation and Industrial Automation, Supervision Systems (SCADA and HMI), PLC-PAC programming, and industrial networks.
