Are you an a software developer who enjoys solving complex problems and improving business processes through thoughtful, well-crafted code? Have a passion for coding? We're looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented programmer to support and enhance our enterprise software systems. In this role, you’ll develop and modify existing RPG programs, troubleshoot issues, maintain critical databases, and support cross-platform integration.

The ideal candidate will live within about 150 miles of our Madison location. 

• Develop and modify existing RPG programs to meet business needs.
• Modify existing web applications as requested by users and the Business System Manager.
• Carries-out progressively more difficult assignments involving the compiling, summarizing, and analysis of data concerning the function or problem being studied. May prepare flow charts to outline the existing process or the proposed solution to the problem.
• Work in cross platform environments to learn/support application development skills and integration processes across the Research Products enterprise software application suite.
• Interpreting programming, troubleshooting issues, and making modifications to existing code to meet the company and user needs.
• Assisting with programming projects that meet business needs. 
• Resolving and troubleshooting problems and complex issues.
• Maintaining and making changes to existing databases in DB2, SQL and Access.
• Maintaining files and libraries.
• Designing print programs and report formats.
• Setup and maintain EDI relationships and transactions. Work with our VAR to optimize our EDI software such as SFTP file transfer.
• Be able to respond to operating problems and error messages, and take the appropriate corrective action
• Assists in determining the relevance of computer programs relative to specific administrative, scientific, and engineering functions or problems.
• Run daily, weekly, monthly, annual and special requested reports.  These reports are to be run on a timely basis.  Print or generate electronically appropriate reports on appropriate forms and printers.
• Ensure proper documentation of procedures performed.

• Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree or experience in lieu of degree
• Understanding of APIs and web development
• Java, Json, PHP, Python knowledge desired
• Strong knowledge of commonly used Windows applications
• Curious mindset with an ability to be detailed orientated and complete tasks on time to meet deadlines
• Bonus points: Understanding of RPG programming language
