The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair of all ground support equipment utilized by AGI. The GSE Manager ensures that the equipment is safe, reliable, and operational to meet the demands of airline and airport services. This role requires effective leadership, equipment management expertise, and a focus on safety and efficiency within a fast-paced airport environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Management:
  • Oversee daily GSE operations, ensuring all equipment is available and in working order to support airport and airline activities.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and minimize unexpected repairs.
  • Ensure that all GSE meets or exceeds industry safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Team Leadership:
  • Manage a team of GSE technicians and mechanics, providing leadership, training, and support to ensure high performance and safety standards.
  • Assign tasks, monitor workload, and evaluate performance to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and accountability.
• Equipment Maintenance & Repair:
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all GSE, including baggage carts, tugs, loaders, de-icing equipment, and other specialized machinery.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for audit and reporting purposes.
• Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure that all GSE operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, FAA, and airport-specific guidelines.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Implement safety training programs for GSE staff and ensure adherence to company policies and industry standards.
• Budget & Cost Management:
  • Manage the GSE department’s budget, tracking expenses related to repairs, maintenance, parts, and labor.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize costs while maintaining equipment quality and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to source and purchase parts, supplies, and new equipment as needed.
• Vendor Management:
  • Establish relationships with external service providers and vendors to manage equipment warranties, repairs, and parts supply.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure favorable terms for AGI.
• Reporting & Analytics:
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for equipment utilization, maintenance costs, and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on GSE performance, operational challenges, and budget status.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation Management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in ground support equipment management, aviation operations, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of GSE maintenance procedures, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Environment:

• May require working weekends, holidays, and being on-call for emergency repairs or equipment issues.
