Rocksteady Music School is the UK’s largest rock and pop school. We teach fun and inclusive in-school band lessons to primary age children. Our mission is simple: to amplify children's self-belief and remove barriers to music education. We’re currently in thousands of schools in the UK, teaching tens of thousands of children every week – and we’re growing fast.

We're now looking for an experienced People Advisor to join our friendly team here at Rocksteady, a company with real purpose. You will have the opportunity to work in an exciting and varied role, playing an important part in striving to deliver a first class service for our people.

The ideal candidate will have strong generalist HR experience with sound experience in employee relations and will thrive in a fast paced environment where no two days are the same. This is an excellent opportunity to truly make a difference in an organisation with exciting growth plans.

This role is based at our head office in a beautiful converted manor house in Liphook. Here, along with our teams in our Birmingham office, we all play our part in supporting our band leaders to reach as many children as possible with their lessons.  We are a community of music lovers using our individual talents to help give children the self-belief to succeed. That’s what gets us out of bed in the morning.

As a People Advisor you will:
  • Be the first point of contact for managers for general people queries and advice across the entire employee lifecycle
  • Support managers and be the HR lead on complex employee relations matters including disciplinary and grievance meetings, sickness, occupational health referrals and performance management
  • Build relationships with managers at all levels and develop a good understanding of the business to help identify issues and trends
  • Support with the development and review of existing and new policies in line with legislation, best practice and business objectives
  • Help manage reporting and analysis of key people metrics e.g. staff attrition, sickness etc.
  • Be responsible for configuring and customising the IRIS Cascade HR system
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of training sessions to managers and staff where required
  • Support the People Administrator with administration activities such as processing changes to employment contracts, managing sick pay and updating the HR system
  • Support the Senior People Advisor and Head of People with wider initiatives and projects

As a People Advisor you’ll need:
  • Previous demonstratable experience working in a Generalist HR or Advisory role. A minimum of CIPD Level 5 or 7 qualification would be preferable
  • Experience of advising and managing complex HR casework across a range of topics including employee relations and proven expertise in key processes throughout the employment lifecycle
  • Previous knowledge of HR systems would be desirable as well as experience in producing and analysing key HR metrics
  • Highly organised and comfortable prioritising own workload in a busy environment to achieve key goals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trusted working relationships with a range of stakeholders at all levels
  • A strong growth mindset with resilience and creativity
  • Excellent administration and MS office skills
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills

We appreciate that previous experience does not always tell the full story so if you like the sound of this role, don’t rule yourself out if you feel you don’t tick all the boxes.
