Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for operating and maintaining machinery used in the decoration process of can manufacturing. Play a crucial role in ensuring that cans are properly decorated with labels, prints, or coatings according to the specifications and quality standards set by the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Production Monitoring: Monitor production activities and machine operations, adjusting as necessary to maintain efficiency and quality standards.
• Communication: Provide updates on work progress, quality, and production information to Senior Specialists and team members.
• Workflow Coordination: Coordinate with team members, specialists, technicians, and material handlers to ensure a seamless workflow and efficient production cycles.
• Production Planning: Collaborate with production planners to schedule machine setups, production runs, and changeovers based on production requirements and customer orders.
• Decoration Process Management: Manage and oversee the decoration process for aluminum cans, including printing, labeling, and graphic application.
• Print Quality Control: Monitor print quality, color accuracy, and graphic alignment on cans. Conduct quality checks to ensure consistency and adherence to brand standards.
• Graphic Design Collaboration: Collaborate with graphic designers and marketing teams to ensure artwork files are prepared correctly for printing and meet brand guidelines.
• Color Management: Manage color profiles, ink mixing, and color calibration to achieve accurate and vibrant graphics on aluminum cans.
• Quality Control: Monitor production output, inspect can components for defects, and ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
• Machine Operation: Operate and maintain decoration equipment such as printing presses, labeling machines, inkjet printers, and related machinery.
• Machine Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines according to TPM schedules, conducting tests and inspections to evaluate performance.
• Machine Setup and Optimization: Set up machines, including calibration and cleaning, to initiate production cycles. Control and adjust machine settings to optimize performance.
• Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Troubleshoot equipment issues, perform routine maintenance tasks, and coordinate repairs with maintenance technicians as needed.
• Process Optimization: Optimize decoration processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall productivity while maintaining quality standards.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety protocols, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and adherence to safety guidelines during machine operation and maintenance.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of production activities, machine settings, quality checks, maintenance tasks, and production metrics. Generate reports on production output, efficiency, and quality performance.
• Leadership and Training: Provide leadership and direction to operators on equipment operation, maintenance, and housekeeping tasks. Assist in creating SOPs, conducting internal audits, and training operators.
• Collaboration and Adaptability: Collaborate with all stakeholders to acquire expertise in operating equipment and enhancing performance capabilities. Remain adaptable with your schedule to accommodate production requirements.

Food Safety

Responsible and required to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues; and empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work. If this position is vacant for any significant period of time the obligation for completion of all food safety and quality related tasks will become the responsibility of the direct manager or a qualified designee.

Skills/ Knowledge:

Has learned the basic skills and routine tasks necessary. Beginning to learn advanced skills and gaining an understanding of the total process flow.

Computer Skills: 

Must have basic knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in printing technology, graphic design, or related field is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus regularly.
