Associate Software Engineer

Position Responsibilities

We're seeking an innovative AI-first young professional, who recently graduated from the Software Engineering university program.
 
Deltek is the U.S. enterprise software solutions corporation for project-based businesses across government contracting and professional services industries.
 
Deltek delivers best-in-class software for unified project time tracking, project billing, time and attendance, compliance, and professional services automation. 
 
As a Software Engineer at Deltek, you’ll play a key role in building performant, user-friendly scalable web applications as you work in a cross-functional scrum team.
 
You will be paired with a dedicated mentor to guide you along the way, as you become a valued member of our team. 
 
This is a great opportunity for a recent grads who are passionate about modern technology and AI to kickstart their career, building scalable software with measurable customer impact, and gaining expertise in modern software development and AI technologies and best practices.
 
You will gain experience in:

  • Shipping product features — spanning UI, APIs, and cloud infrastructure — end-to-end as an individual contributor. 
  • Ensuring software quality with CI/CD pipelines, linting, and test automation in a real-world SaaS environment. 
  • Building and deploying scalable, highly available systems with Amazon Web Services, Docker, and Terraform. 
  • Diagnosing production issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide solutions and performance enhancements. 
  • Applying system design best practices, such as microservice architecture and serverless computing, to scale software products to handle millions of users. 
  • Using GenAI tools like Anthropic Claude Code to assist with code generation, code removal, unit testing, dependencies updates with known vulnerabilities, and using AI to apply CSS frameworks.
  • Leveraging AI-assisted debugging tools for identifying root causes and suggesting fixes in production environments. 
  • Applying prompt engineering to generate infrastructure-as-code templates or boilerplate backend logic using GenAI.
  • Experimenting with agentic AI tools that automate test generation, code reviews, or deployment workflows. 
You’ll work across the full stack — from intuitive frontends to robust backend services — using modern technologies like TypeScript/Node.js, C#/ASP.NET, PostgreSQL, Terraform, Docker, and AWS

Qualifications


 
  • Recent graduate or postgraduate in Software Engineering with a  GPA 3.0+
  • Ability to showcase projects/code in your public GitHub account
  • Strong AI-first interest and mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for AI automation
  • Ability to understand the AI ecosystem and to leverage emerging AI technologies
  • Team player, collaborate with members of the engineering team
  • Ability to commute to the Calgary office for training
 
Technical Requirements:
 
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude in software development fundamentals, including proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as TypeScript, React, Node.js, Python. Knowledge of C# is a plus. A Code interview will be required to pass. 
  • Prior experimental code development with Code pilot, Claude Code, Windsurf is a plus.
  • Familiarity with modern AI tools and frameworks, AI Integrations tools and practices is a plus.
 
 
AI-Centric Abilities:
 
  • Interest in learning and experimenting with AI-assisted development tools like GenAI code assistants or intelligent debugging environments. 
  • Ability to work with or learn prompt engineering techniques to maximize productivity.
  • Enthusiasm for using AI to improve developer workflows such as writing documentation, generating boilerplate code, or automating tests.
  • Understanding of AI ethics and responsible AI development

Canadian Citizenship or Canadian Permanent Resident is required for this role

Compensation Information

The salary range for this position is $39600.00 - $69300.00. This range is subject to change as Deltek takes a number of factors into consideration when determining individual base pay, such as location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including incentive compensation and equity.
