About the Team:
We are seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Intern to support Hermeus’s Test Operations, R&D/Manufacturing, and Compliance teams in maintaining safe, compliant, and efficient operations across test, laboratory, manufacturing, and engineering environments.
In this role, you will gain hands-on experience supporting workplace safety programs, conducting inspections and risk assessments, maintaining compliance documentation, assisting with training, and tracking incidents and corrective actions. You will work alongside engineers, technicians, operators, and safety professionals to identify hazards, improve processes, and develop practical solutions that support both employee safety and operational effectiveness.
Spring: Around 16 weeks (January - April)
Summer: Around 12 weeks (May - August)
Fall: Around 16 weeks (September - December)
Responsibilities:
Support safety and compliance activities across test, lab, manufacturing, and engineering environments.
Assist with safety inspections, risk assessments, JSAs, and safety reviews.
Identify hazards and support corrective and preventative actions.
Maintain EHS documentation, permits, records, and compliance materials.
Support safety training, communications, and employee awareness efforts.
Assist with incident, near-miss, and corrective action tracking.
Track safety metrics, observations, and follow-up actions.
Partner with Test Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Compliance teams on safety initiatives.
Support contractor safety, Hot Work Permits, and emergency preparedness activities.
Research applicable safety regulations and identify process improvements.
Required Qualifications:
Pursuing a degree or program in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science/Health, Health Sciences, Public Health, Biology, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Safety, Safety Management, or a related field.
Interest in workplace safety, environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, manufacturing, or test operations.
Basic knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, or safety/compliance principles.
Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
Comfortable working in hands-on test, manufacturing, laboratory, and industrial environments.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across technical teams.
GPA of 3.0 or above
Preferred Skills and Experience:
OSHA certification, coursework, or safety-focused training.
Experience or coursework in environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, construction safety, or workplace safety.
Familiarity with OSHA regulations, JSAs, incident investigations, or corrective action processes.
Experience in a manufacturing, construction, laboratory, aerospace, or industrial environment.

The hourly rate listed for this internship is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on degree level.
