Description

Role Overview

We’re seeking a Product Manager to own the product experience of our Spytec applications. The center of

gravity for this role is the service fleet SMB segment: small service businesses that discover, buy, activate,

and expand entirely self-serve. You’ll own the product side of that journey — onboarding, in-product

adoption, and expansion to more vehicles and trackers — partnering with marketing, which drives

acquisition — while continuing to steward the experience for our large consumer base.

This is a creation role, not an optimization role. Your job is to turn customer interviews and insights into

brand-new product ideas — new capabilities that put more power in these businesses’ hands — and you’ll

have wide latitude to create, be creative, and make bets. This role suits a self-starter who wants real

autonomy: we agree on outcomes, and you own how to get there — nobody here is going to micromanage

you, and nobody is going to hand you a roadmap either. We’re also incorporating AI into the front end of

the product in ways our customers are just beginning to see, and you’ll help decide what that becomes.

You’ll drive key metrics like in-product adoption and expansion, churn reduction, ARPU, and monthly

recurring revenue (MRR). Regular customer interviews are a core, non-negotiable part of this job — they are

the primary input to what we build.

How We Build

Our product development is highly AI-driven. We prototype in days, not quarters, and we ship with

engineering at a pace that surprises people coming from more traditional product organizations. You won’t

wait on a designer to start: you get ideas into tangible form yourself — an AI-built prototype, a rough mock,

a crisp written spec, whatever works — and partner with our designer for refinement, not for permission. If

that speed sounds energizing, you’ll thrive here. If it sounds uncomfortable, this isn’t the right role.

How We Run Product

• You’ll run roughly 10+ customer conversations a month and write a weekly insight memo — short,

sharp, and read by leadership.

• Every two weeks you’ll bring product bets to a prioritization meeting with company leadership. Bets

are expected to be sourced: traceable to a customer conversation, a churn signal, or a competitor gap.

• You’ll know our competitors’ products cold and own that watchlist for your segment.

• Your quarterly roadmap is weighted toward new capability, not refinement — and you’ll defend it in

writing.

What Makes This Role Unique

• Create, Don’t Just Optimize: Wide latitude to conceive net-new capabilities and make real product

bets for an underserved customer.

• AI on Both Sides: AI-accelerated development behind the scenes, and AI-powered features shipping in

the product itself.

• Autonomy & Ownership: Full ownership of the Spytec product surface with real decision-making

authority — outcomes are agreed on, the path is yours.

• Massive Reach: Tens of thousands of active paying users across SMB and consumer segments.

• Subscription / SaaS Focus: A subscription-based application with integrated hardware.

• Performance-Driven Pay: Quarterly variable compensation tied to measurable outcomes like churn

reduction and expansion.

• Cross-Functional Teamwork: Partner with engineering, design, marketing, and support to solve

problems holistically.

Requirements

Core Competencies:

• Product Creation:

◦ Track record of conceiving and shipping net-new capabilities — not just improving existing ones.

Be ready to name one: the insight it came from and what it did commercially.

◦ Skilled at turning qualitative customer insight into product bets worth making.

• Customer Discovery:

◦ Comfortable and energized running customer interviews on a regular cadence — roughly 10+

conversations per month — and translating them into product decisions.

◦ Strong written communicator: insight memos, specs, and roadmap arguments that hold up.

• Speed & AI-Driven Development:

◦ Comfortable with very fast prototyping and release cycles, working closely with engineering.

◦ Self-sufficient at making ideas tangible — with AI tools or otherwise — without waiting on a

designer.

• Adoption, Expansion & Retention:

◦ Experience driving in-product adoption and expansion in self-serve products.

◦ Expertise reducing churn — voluntary and involuntary — in subscription businesses.

◦ Skills in optimizing onboarding and self-serve support systems.

• Analytics & Data Skills:

◦ Proficiency with analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel) and a data-driven approach to decision-making.

• Collaboration:

◦ Exceptional ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, design, marketing, and support

teams.

◦ Deep understanding of how small business owners and consumers evaluate, adopt, and stick with

software.
