Embedded Software Engineer – Aftermarket
Position Summary
We are seeking a Software Engineer to support development of avionics software systems within the Aftermarket product line. This role focuses on designing, developing, and verifying software for ground support and avionics systems.
You will work closely with systems, hardware, and test engineering teams to implement software features, support integration activities, and contribute to verification and validation efforts. Scope and ownership will scale based on experience level, with opportunities to take on increased technical responsibility and leadership over time.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain software for avionics systems
Translate system and software requirements into working software implementations
Support software integration with hardware and system-level components
Participate in debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of system issues
Develop software documentation including design artifacts and verification evidence
Contribute to software verification activities including test development and execution
Collaborate with systems, hardware, and test teams to ensure end-to-end system functionality
Support continuous improvement of software development processes and practices
Participate in design reviews and technical discussions across engineering teams
Identify risks and support mitigation activities throughout the development lifecycle
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
3+ years of engineering experience in software development, coding, software verification, avionics, or related aerospace/defense applications
Experience in software development within embedded or systems-based environments
Understanding of software development lifecycle processes and structured engineering practices
Experience working with software requirements and design documentation
Experience with software testing, verification, or validation activities
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
Effective communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
Experience using automation and AI tools to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency
Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to evaluate processes and implement more effective ways of working
Ability to adopt and promote automation and AI tools to improve team speed, quality, and execution
Preferred Additional Skills
Experience in avionics or aerospace software development environments
Experience with C++, Python, Visual Basic, and Qt Creator
Familiarity with avionics data standards such as ARINC 429, ARINC 717, and ARINC 664
Experience with software development involving data decoding, parameter mapping, and engineering unit conversion
Familiarity with standards such as DO-178 or similar regulated development frameworks
Experience with embedded systems and hardware/software integration
Experience supporting ground support systems, maintenance applications, or aftermarket software solutions
Experience working within regulated aerospace or aviation environments
