Additional Information
- Manage Lighting and Video team; Oversee department operations;
- Ensure that Blue Man Group values and artistic vision are understood and supported across the organization;
- Create the department’s schedule; ensure coverage and maintenance for all shows by coordinating show and work schedules;
- Manage the training of all members of the Lighting and Video Department and provide ongoing training for members of the department to ensure consistency and employee continual engagement with the show and the organization;
- Create a healthy and respective workplace environment with your department, the Production team, and the community;
- Provide feedback to Stage Management on all lighting and video cue tracks, and ensure crew run sheets - including pre-set, show cues, turnover, and post-show - are updated regularly in collaboration with Stage Management and Production Management. Assist the Stage Management department with documentation and distribution to department members as requested;
- Ensure that the show is operated in a safe, professional, timely, and efficient manner;
- Keep track of vendors and contact numbers and forge positive, collaborative relationships with suppliers;
- Execute or ensure general repair, construction, maintenance, restocking, and organization of all lighting and video supplies as needed;
- Incorporate any changes to lighting and video tracks and procedures as directed by Blue Man Productions, General Management, Production Management, and Stage Management;
- Maintain the departmental budget and follow all General Management procedures for using purchase orders and submitting receipts;
- Create and execute show contingency plans;
- Adhere to and ensure safety rules and regulations are followed in accordance with OSHA standards;
- Support gigs and marketing events;
- Oversee department payroll;
- Design, organize, and supervise the set-up of lighting and video elements and crew as needed;
- Participate in load-in and load-out and lend assistance to Production Management, Stage Management or other positions as needed;
- Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
- Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;
- Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support;
- All other work-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Digital Arts or a similar field; or equivalent relevant work experience;
- At least 5 years of previous experience or in a similar environment;
- Previous leadership experience;
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required;
- Strong technical knowledge of Lighting and Video;
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead a team in high-pressure environments;
- Project Management skills;
- The ability to work effectively in low-light environments;
- In-depth knowledge and operation of High End Systems HOG lighting consoles;
- Experience operating video consoles during a live show;
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to handle technical issues swiftly during a live show;
- Strong communication and collaboration skills;
- Budgeting and Departmental budget forecasting skills;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications;
- Ability to obtain OSHA 30 course completion card;
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Ability to clearly and effectively communicate via headset;
- Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays;
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs, working with limited to no visibility; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer.
