What You'll Do
This position provides case management for the YWCA Permanent Supportive Housing program at the East Denny Building. The Resident Life Coach provides structured, goal-oriented casework for single adults and small families in the Permanent Supportive Housing program.
This position has a social justice component that will require critical thinking around how external systems impact the work that we are doing through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Knowing the core principals of antiracism and grounding those principles in everyday work, as well as working well in non-white environments and championing anti-racism policy, are required job skills and core values. Expectations of your role:
Verify participants and document program eligibility and complete program application materials.
Maintaining compliance with lease and case notes on a daily and/or weekly basis.
Networks with other service providers to advocate for clients and establish suitable referral systems.
Maintains client files and appropriate records to document participant’s progress.
Participates in agency, department and committee meetings to maintain integrated services for clients.
Participates in department projects developed by the Director of Housing and Regional Directory aimed at providing better service to clients and improving efficiency.
Attends trainings as directed to increase knowledge and skill
Provides advocacy and coaching to facilitate positive and productive landlord/tenant relationships.
Provides clients with trauma informed support, case management and advocacy. Make referrals and linkages to community resources for housing, employment and other basic needs.
Must have's to be successful:
Bachelor’s Degree in social services related field with at least three years of case management experience working with low-income, homeless and chronically homeless households. Prefer chemical dependency and/or mental health background.
OR
AA Degree in social services related field with at least five years of case management experience working with low-income homeless and chronically homeless.
Any combination of skills and experience demonstrates the ability to perform this job effectively.
And
Understanding of issues around homelessness, poverty and trauma, especially as they affect specific populations, including but not limited to veterans, families, the elderly & disabled, people who live with chronic mental illness, youth, LGBTQI people, immigrants & refugees, and people of color
Knowledge of and experience as a service provider with any of the following: crisis intervention, victims of domestic violence, child abuse, substance abuse, mental health, welfare rights, case management, sexual assault, employment services, child development, and positive parenting skills
Core competencies expected: attention to detail, oral and written communication organizing/time management, initiative, collaboration, ethics and integrity.
Experience working with communities of color and people from different cultures than your own.
Demonstrated commitment to anti-racist principles and the intersection of racism and poverty.
Hours, Rate, and Benefits
Hourly Rate: $28.00
Hours: 40 hours per week

At the time of hire, employees may enroll voluntarily in the Fidelity 403b Plan
After two years of employment, employees are eligible to participate in the YWCA Retirement Fund
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift to 30 pounds.
Continuously exchanges information through listening and talking with clients, agency staff, employers, representatives of community organizations and other individuals in the community
Frequently stands, walks, sits and climbs in performing duties in the workspace and in the community.
Frequently reaches and grasps in using telephones, computers, fax machines and other office equipment and supplies.
All positions at YWCA of Seattle King Snohomish are exposed to clients who have experienced or are experiencing trauma in various forms including but not limited to domestic violence, sexual violence, homelessness, unemployment, financial hardship, etc. As a result, staff are at risk of secondary trauma.
