We're hiring a full-time Oral Surgery Patient Coordinator to be the welcoming face of our front office — someone who keeps our schedule running smoothly, helps patients navigate their oral surgery journey, and supports our clinical team behind the scenes.
Position summary
The Oral Surgery Patient Coordinator is a non-clinical role focused on delivering exceptional front-office experiences within a specialty oral surgery practice. This position is responsible for scheduling and coordinating patient care, verifying insurance, presenting treatment plans, processing payments, and ensuring seamless day-to-day office operations — all while serving as a knowledgeable guide for patients navigating surgical procedures and treatment costs.
Key responsibilities
- Greet and check in patients professionally, ensuring records and patient information are complete and up to date in the practice management software
- Schedule and coordinate appointments, proactively filling same-day and next-day openings to optimize patient flow
- Present and review treatment plans with patients, clearly explaining proposed oral surgery procedures and associated costs
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations for oral surgery procedures; communicate benefits and patient financial responsibility
- Collect co-payments and process patient payments accurately; balance registers and complete daily close-out procedures
- Utilize RevenueWell for patient confirmations, communications, and insurance-related outreach
- Monitor and respond to office emails and voicemails in a timely manner
- Complete next-day router preparation and run applicable reports
- Support the office manager with end-of-day processes and escalate issues as needed
- Coordinate with the clinical team to support smooth patient transitions between front office and treatment areas
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
Required
- 1–3 years of dental front office experience
- Customer service or front desk experience
- Ability to explain treatment plans and insurance information clearly to patients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with computer systems and comfortable learning new software
- Demonstrated ethical conduct and commitment to patient confidentiality
- Ability to balance registers accurately
- Reliable attendance and flexibility to adjust schedule based on business needs
- Subject to background screening consistent with applicable law
Preferred
- 1–3 years of dental oral surgery front office experience
- Prior experience in an oral surgery or specialty dental practice
- Familiarity with Denticon or similar practice management software
- Experience with insurance verification and pre-authorization processes
- Knowledge of oral surgery terminology and procedures
