- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for international entities with primary focus on India, United Kingdom, Singapore, Canada, and Australia payroll operations, ensuring payroll accuracy, completeness, and timely disbursement.
- Perform detailed payroll input validations by reviewing HRIS and payroll input data received from HR, People Operations, Benefits, Equity, and Finance teams to ensure completeness, accuracy, and appropriate approvals prior to payroll processing.
- Validate payroll changes including new hires, terminations, compensation revisions, bonuses, commissions, leave payouts, benefit changes, stock transactions, tax updates, and one-time adjustments before payroll submission.
- Conduct detailed payroll variance analysis by comparing current payroll outputs against prior payroll cycles, identifying unusual fluctuations, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring appropriate resolution prior to payroll sign-off.
- Review payroll output reports to validate employee pay, taxes, statutory deductions, benefit deductions, retro calculations, and net pay accuracy across all payroll cycles.
- Ensure accurate processing of all payroll components including regular earnings, bonuses, incentives, commissions, reimbursements, statutory payments, retro adjustments, leave encashments, equity-related transactions, and final settlements.
- Conduct rigorous pre- and post-payroll audits and reconciliations to validate payroll outputs, statutory deductions, taxes, benefits, funding reports, and compliance requirements.
- Perform payroll register to General Ledger (GL) reconciliations, ensuring payroll expenses, liabilities, accruals, taxes, and benefit postings are accurately reflected in the accounting records and aligned with accounting requirements.
- Partner closely with Accounting to investigate and resolve payroll-related GL variances, reconciliation breaks, accrual discrepancies, and funding issues.
- Coordinate with actuarial consultants for India gratuity and leave encashment valuations by preparing and validating employee census data, payroll inputs, attrition data, and benefit-related information required for actuarial valuation exercises.
- Review actuarial valuation reports for gratuity and leave encashment liabilities, validate payroll-related assumptions and employee data accuracy, and support Finance and Accounting teams with accrual booking requirements.
- Prepare and provide gratuity and leave encashment accrual data, movement schedules, and supporting reconciliations for accounting close and audit requirements.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of country-specific payroll regulations, tax laws, labor requirements, social security contributions, and statutory reporting obligations. Support payroll compliance requirements including:
- India: PF, ESI, PT, TDS, LWF, gratuity, leave encashment, bonus, and labor law compliance.
- UK: PAYE, National Insurance, pension auto-enrollment, statutory payments, P60/P45 processing, and HMRC reporting.
- Singapore: CPF, Tax reporting, SDL contributions, tax clearance requirements, and local statutory obligations.
- Canada: CPP, EI, provincial tax regulations, year-end slips (T4), and CRA compliance.
- Australia: Superannuation, PAYG withholding, STP reporting, payroll tax, and Fair Work compliance.
- Partner with payroll vendors, tax advisors, actuarial consultants, and compliance partners to ensure payroll timelines, accuracy, statutory compliance, and SLA commitments are consistently met.
- Prepare payroll reports, statutory filings, audit schedules, management reporting, payroll analytics, and variance explanations for leadership and internal stakeholders.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining payroll documentation, reconciliations, SOPs, audit trails, compliance evidence, and statutory records.
- Develop and maintain payroll process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), payroll calendars, and internal controls across international payroll operations.
- Collaborate with HR, Accounting, Legal, Equity, Benefits, and People Operations teams to ensure seamless payroll support throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Provide payroll support to employees and internal stakeholders by responding to payroll inquiries and resolving issues accurately and professionally.
- Support payroll system implementations, integrations, testing activities, and payroll process improvement initiatives.
- Assist in payroll transformation and automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency, scalability, and control effectiveness.
- Ensure confidentiality and integrity of payroll and employee data in compliance with internal policies and applicable data privacy regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum 8+ years of progressive payroll experience with strong exposure to international payroll operations.
- Hands-on experience managing payroll processes for India country is required.
- Experience in United Kingdom, Singapore, Canada, and Australia would be advantageous
- Experience working with enterprise payroll and HRIS platforms such as Workday, ADP, Rippling, or similar global payroll systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, reconciliations, and payroll analytics.
- Strong understanding of payroll accounting, reconciliations, statutory reporting, accruals, and payroll controls.
- Experience supporting payroll audits, SOX/internal controls, and compliance environments is preferred.
- Experience managing third-party payroll vendors and multi-country payroll service delivery models.
- Exposure to equity compensation, stock plans, or global mobility payroll is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple payroll calendars, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across global teams.
- Payroll certifications or country-specific payroll qualifications are considered an advantage.
- This role is hybrid (4 days a week in our Bangalore office)
