About the Program
The Clubhouse Program is a community-based model designed to support recovery and empower individuals living with serious mental illness (SMI). Rooted in the philosophy that “community is therapy,” the Clubhouse operates on a “work-ordered day” where members and staff work side-by-side to manage operations, build skills, and support each other in achieving meaningful life goals. The program provides opportunities for employment, education, skill development, social connection, and access to essential resources that promote independence and stability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Psychology, Anthropology, Public Health, or related field; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a similar setting
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals living with serious mental health conditions
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based practices in mental health treatment
  • Experience with Medi-Cal reporting, behavioral health policies, and regulations preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with excellent time management
  • Must be proficient in technology, including documentation systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles and trauma-informed care
  • Bilingual preferred but not required
  • Valid California Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance

What This Role Looks Like (Day-to-Day Reality)

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the Clubhouse program
  • Work closely with members and staff in a collaborative, community-based environment
  • Oversee program performance, staffing, and compliance
  • Balance administrative leadership with hands-on program engagement
  • Build partnerships and maintain strong community presence
  • This role requires strong leadership, emotional intelligence, and the ability to manage both people and operations in a dynamic, mission-driven environment

What You’ll Do

Program Leadership

  • Provide leadership and vision aligned with the Clubhouse International Model
  • Foster a therapeutic, community-driven environment focused on collaboration and shared responsibility
  • Oversee all program components including Work-Ordered Day, employment, education, and social programming

Administrative Oversight

  • Manage overall program operations including fiscal oversight, risk management, and quality assurance
  • Ensure compliance with Medi-Cal, contract requirements, and internal policies
  • Oversee data collection, reporting, and documentation accuracy
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and functional work environment

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Supervise, coach, and develop staff to ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts
  • Evaluate staff performance and promote professional growth
  • Ensure meaningful member participation across all program activities

Collaboration & Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with employers, community partners, and advisory boards
  • Support Transitional Employment programming and employer partnerships
  • Participate in provider meetings and coordinated care efforts
  • Communicate regularly with contract stakeholders and representatives

Program Quality & Member Experience

  • Ensure services are delivered in alignment with Clubhouse standards and evidence-based practices
  • Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and recovery
  • Support members in achieving vocational, social, and personal goals

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in occasional evening, weekend, or community events
  • Demonstrate cultural competence, trauma-informed care, and gender-responsive practices
  • Complete all required trainings in a timely manner (California-based Clubhouse training)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Requirements

  • Ability to work on-site full-time in San Diego locations
  • Ability to participate in occasional evenings, weekends, and events
  • Ability to manage both administrative and field-based responsibilities

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity
  • Monthly stipend
  • 160 hours PTO + paid sick time
