Description
The Senior Business Analyst will review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and user needs to support organizational and technology objectives. This role will be responsible for identifying opportunities for process improvement, documenting system functionality, supporting software development activities, and ensuring that application documentation and user materials remain accurate and current.
The position will work closely with IT developers, analysts, project teams, and Contract Management Support (CMS) staff to create and maintain user guides, instructional documentation, visual aids, and other reference materials for internal applications. The Senior Business Analyst will also participate in system reviews, testing activities, stakeholder meetings, and enhancement discussions to support effective communication and successful project delivery.
This role requires extensive experience in business analysis, software development lifecycle methodologies, process reengineering, requirements gathering, and stakeholder communication, along with the ability to independently manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Review, analyze, and evaluate business systems, workflows, and user needs
- Collaborate with IT developers, analysts, and stakeholders to understand application functionality, enhancements, and system updates
- Gather, analyze, document, and validate business and functional requirements
- Develop and maintain user guides, instructional documents, and other application-related materials
- Create and maintain visual aids, including screenshots and step-by-step process documentation
- Translate technical concepts and application functionality into clear, user-friendly documentation for non-technical users
- Update documentation and training materials to reflect system changes, enhancements, and new functionality
- Participate in meetings, demos, walkthroughs, and system reviews to gather information on application updates
- Support software development lifecycle activities, including analysis, design reviews, testing, and implementation support
- Participate in unit testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) activities
- Assist with business process mapping, process improvement, and business process reengineering efforts
- Prepare solution options, risk assessments, and business analysis documentation
- Support communication and coordination between business stakeholders and IT teams
- Organize and prioritize multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
- Ensure all documentation and visual materials are accurate, current, and aligned with business and application requirements
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating business systems and user needs
- 8+ years of experience in business analysis methodologies, activities, and best practices
- 8+ years of experience participating in software development reviews and supporting analysis, design, and testing activities
- 8+ years of experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies
- 8+ years of experience participating in unit testing, system testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Strong experience serving as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience analyzing raw data and business processes
- Extensive skill in planning, organizing, and managing multiple assignments effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a Data Analyst with strong data analysis and interpretation skills
- Experience with project management methodologies or PMP certification
- 2+ years of experience creating user-focused technical or instructional documentation
- 2+ years of experience developing screenshots and visual aids for user documentation
- Ability to effectively translate technical concepts into plain language for end users
- Experience supporting government or enterprise-level IT environments
