THE POSITION

This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. The role involves managing journal entries, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Accounting Manager will supervise and mentor a team of four accountants, provide strategic direction, and ensure efficient workflow. Additionally, the role includes assisting with production of financial statements, budgets, and internal and external audits. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments to drive financial success.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Supervise four accountants on the accounting team to ensure efficiency and adherence to accounting policies and best practices.
  • Manage the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financial statements are accurate.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal controls.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, providing detailed analysis of financial performance.
  • Assist in the coordination and management of internal and external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided and issues are resolved.
  • Contribute to financial reporting and analysis to senior management to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting functions and enhance team productivity.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 8 or more years of experience in a corporate and/or public accounting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role 
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
  • Great technical skills including Excel and experience with ERP and other financial reporting systems
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Great customer service and ability to collaborate effectively across teams

This opportunity has a base range that represents a full-time annual salary of $100,000-120,000 (commensurate with experience).
