In 2016, we moved to our new, state-of-the-art college prep campus in Delano, and in the Fall of 2017, added an elementary school in Delano and opened a second charter school in Lost Hills. In Delano, we serve over 1,800 students in grades TK-12, while in Lost Hills, we serve over 400 students in grades TK-12.

Job Description

• Continuously build professional knowledge in health and wellness as it relates to physical education, and frequently collaborates with the WCPA Health and Wellness department on fitness activities and campaigns.
• Support the mission and vision of the elementary school, with an urgency to maximize every opportunity necessary to achieve ambitious student outcomes in all content areas.
• Foster a safe, culturally responsive, and nurturing community where students love learning about physical education and health & wellness.
• Collaborate with the Athletics Department and classroom teachers to plan and implement an appropriately challenging curriculum in physical education using best practices in physical education pedagogy.
• Develop, execute, and deliver innovative physical education lessons aligned with the California Physical Education Framework using research-based best practices for grades TK-5.
• Promote physical and social-emotional development of children in individual, small-group, and whole-class settings.
• Differentiate lessons to accommodate students with varying needs.
• Assess students using current strategies and tools to inform instruction and give in-the-moment feedback, as well as on quarterly benchmarks.
• Communicate with grade-level teams regarding individual student needs and provide meaningful feedback to students and families.
• Demonstrate commitment to the community by communicating regularly with families and attending key community events.
• Commit to continuous growth, actively engage in professional development opportunities, and contribute to our professional learning community.
• Supervise before/after school lunch/recess.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in physical education or a similar subject, required.
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university, preferred.
• A current California single-subject teaching credential in Physical Education, required.
• Experience leading classrooms in physical education, sports, or a fitness program.

Pay Range: $66,745.12 - $110,152.35. Final compensation will depend upon skills & experience.

Compensation: 

• Wonderful College Prep Academy offers highly competitive compensation, commensurate with experience. 
• Employees have free access to the Wonderful Wellness Center and gym. 
• For eligible employees, WCPA contributes 19% to CalSTRS. Alternatively, employees may participate in a 403(b) plan with up to 5% employer match (if not receiving CalSTRS contributions). 
• Full-time staff benefits include medical coverage, dental, vision, and life insurance at no cost to the employee
