The person in this role will be responsible for designing and transforming complex data into clear, effective and dynamic visual representations that enable data-driven strategic decision-making across all business units. This role combines analytical thinking, business understanding and technical expertise to translate organizational needs into robust data models and high- performance dashboards that deliver accurate and actionable insights.
 
To succeed in this role, the individual should bring proven experience with visualization tools (e.g. AWS Quick Suite, Tableau, Power BI), strong SQL skills, and expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and query optimization. Knowledge of applied statistics, data storytelling, and the ability to communicate complex insights to nontechnical audiences are essential. The role also requires curiosity about business challenges, a consultative mindset, and the ability to collaborate across functions while anticipating future information needs. Experience with digital transformation initiatives, large-scale data environments, and impact-oriented analytics is highly valued and will help strengthen the organization’s data-driven culture 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of enterprise data visualization solutions that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for business decision-making. 
  • Partner proactively with business leaders and cross-functional teams to understand analytical needs, define visualization strategies, and ensure dashboards answer the most critical business questions.
  • Translate business requirements into clear visualization frameworks, technical specifications, user stories, and data models that support scalable and consistent reporting across the organization.
  • Drive the standardization of visualization practices, defining guidelines for dashboard design, KPI definitions, data structures, and visualization best practices to ensure consistency and usability.
  • Collaborate with Data Architecture, Data Engineering, and Project Management teams to define data requirements, validate data models, and ensure optimized data structures that support high-performance analytics and reporting.
  • Lead the development and deployment of high-performance dashboards and visual analytics solutions (e.g., AWS Quick Suite, Tableau) that enable timely insights across multiple business areas.
  • Ensure data reliability and dashboard accuracy through validation, testing, and troubleshooting processes, proactively identifying issues and proposing improvements.
  • Continuously optimize and manage visualization platforms, including configuring platform capabilities, monitoring license usage against budget, supporting end users, and leading training sessions to increase adoption of data visualization tools.
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making by coaching business teams on how to interpret dashboards, understand KPIs, and use visual analytics effectively. 
  • Document visualization standards, technical processes, and best practices to ensure scalability, governance, and knowledge transfer within the Data & A.I. team and across the organization.
  • Act as a strategic bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, using storytelling and visualization techniques to communicate insights in a clear, compelling, and business-focused way. 
    • Information Security Responsibilities
  • Read, acknowledge and comply with Viamericas Staff Information Security Policy via the Information Security training portal. This should be done within 30 days of hire and repeated annually.
  • Attend periodic Information Security training provided by Viamericas.
  • Report any event that might be an Information Security Incident: clicked on a malicious link, downloaded and opened a suspicious file, etc.
  • Protect from disclosure all sensitive information, credentials and access to servers to which you have access. 

    • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is a plus. 
  • Strong communication skills (English and Spanish), capable of explaining complex analytical concepts to non-technical audiences. Proven experience as a Data Visualization Specialist, Developer, or Analyst, with a strong track record of delivering dashboards and reporting solutions that support strategic decision-making.
  • Experience in the financial services sector or other data-intensive industries is valued.
  • Solid knowledge of data modeling concepts, business metrics, and data validation to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting. 
  • Hands-on experience with leading visualization tools (e.g. AWS Quick Suite, Tableau), including dashboard design, performance optimization, and advanced visualization techniques.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and validating data; familiarity with relational databases and data warehouses.
  • Understanding of data management environments (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Data Mart, Data Lakehouse) and ability to collaborate with data engineering teams on ETL/ELT requirements without being responsible for pipeline development.
  • Strong skills in data storytelling (English and Spanish), with the ability to communicate complex insights clearly to non-technical audiences. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, creativity, and ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on business impact.
