Role:

As the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator, you will have a key role in strengthening and advancing our Winnipeg plant’s safety culture. Reporting to the Plant Manager and the Director of EHS, you will support the day-to-day health and safety activities on the plant floor while implementing corporate EHS programs and ensuring compliance with environmental and occupational health and safety legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day‑to‑day coordination of health and safety activities within the plant.
  • Conduct regular facility and equipment inspections, identify hazards, and recommend practical corrective actions.
  • Prepare Employer Injury Reports and manage both new and ongoing claim files.
  • Support and coordinate the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
  • Implement and monitor corporate safety programs and track performance.
  • Ensure high-quality incident investigations and thorough completion of required documentation.
  • Coordinate return‑to‑work and modified duties programs for employees.
  • Maintain and update safe work procedures and related documentation.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to employees and supervisors regarding EHS policies and practices.
  • Compile reports, metrics, and statistical information as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with management and unionized team to ensure compliance with company policies and relevant legislation.
  • Lead new employee orientations and safety training.
  • Perform other EHS duties as assigned.
  • Experience & Education

  • 5+ years of experience supporting Environment, Health & Safety programs and compliance activities.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • CRSP designation (or working toward it) is considered an asset.
  • Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of relevant Manitoba OHS and environmental legislation, including hazard identification, assessment, and control.
  • Solid knowledge of return‑to‑work and modified work programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across unionized and management groups.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and transparency.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
