This role helps administer the Airport Authority’s real estate agreements with airlines’ related tenants, ensuring those agreements accurately reflect how space is used across the airport and deliver the value they were designed to generate.
Working alongside Asset Managers, the Associate Asset Manager supports agreement administration, monitors lease compliance, coordinates tenant improvement projects, and maintains strong working relationships with tenants. The role collaborates closely with internal teams across the Authority to help ensure that operational needs, financial terms, and tenant agreements remain aligned.
The ideal candidate will bring strong relationship-building skills, attention to detail, and an interest in understanding how operational realities and financial terms connect. They are comfortable reviewing agreements, asking thoughtful questions, and working collaboratively to resolve issues and keep projects moving forward.
At San Diego International Airport, space is one of our most valuable resources. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into how airport property, airline relationships, and revenue generation work together while developing the skills needed to support negotiations and manage complex agreements that help shape the future of the airport.

- Lease Compliance & Space Oversight: Monitor tenant spaces and conduct inspections to ensure leased areas are used in accordance with agreement terms and Authority policies.
- Tenant Improvement Coordination: Review and coordinate routine tenant improvement projects to ensure alignment with lease provisions, operational needs, and airport standards.
- Negotiation & Transaction Support: Assist Asset Managers with real estate negotiations, transactions, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs); help prepare and administer routine airport-related agreements.
- Tenant & Internal Coordination: Act as a liaison between tenants and internal stakeholders to support projects, resolve operational issues, and maintain alignment across departments.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate and support resolution of tenant or public concerns related to leased spaces, agreements, or operational matters.
- Operational & Asset Efficiency: Understands how tenant agreements, operational space usage, and billing systems intersect to identify opportunities to improve asset utilization, tenant services, and operational efficiency.

- Agreement & Contract Interpretation — Reviews and interprets lease and program agreements to ensure compliance with contract provisions, financial obligations, reporting requirements, and operational standards.
- Analytical Thinking — Connects operational realities, agreement terms, and financial implications to identify discrepancies, evaluate issues, and support informed decision-making related to airport assets and tenant agreements.
- Time Management & Coordination — Prioritizes and manages multiple agreements, tenant relationships, and projects simultaneously; develops action plans, follows through on commitments, and adjusts priorities as operational needs evolve.
- Problem Solving & Agility — Identifies issues affecting tenants, operations, or agreements and responds with practical, timely solutions while coordinating with internal teams to resolve concerns effectively.
- Integrity & Accountability — Exercises sound judgment and discretion in situations involving financial, operational, or tenant matters, recognizing the Authority’s responsibility as both a public agency and a business enterprise.
