Position Summary

The Director of Business Operations is a senior operational leader responsible for driving enterprise execution, regional performance, and operational scalability across the organization. This role partners with executive leadership to develop long-term operational strategies while ensuring daily execution aligns with financial, production, and growth objectives.

This position blends strategic planning, operational oversight, and systems optimization to improve margins, enhance execution consistency, and build scalable infrastructure across multi-state construction and telecommunications operations.

Core Responsibilities

·         Collaborate with executive leadership to define operational goals and long-term strategy.

·         Translate company vision into executable operational roadmaps.

·         Establish enterprise KPIs, scorecards, and accountability frameworks.

·         Lead strategic initiatives such as expansion, restructuring, and operational transformation.

·         Support long-range planning and organizational design.

Regional & Field Operations Leadership

  • Provide operational oversight across regions, crews, and project pipelines.
  • Ensure consistency in execution standards and production output.
  • Partner with field and regional leaders to meet delivery targets.
  • Align workforce planning with backlog and growth forecasts.
  • Maintain field visibility through regular operational engagement.

Financial & P&L Alignment

  • Support regional and enterprise-level financial performance.
  • Partner with Finance on budgets, forecasts, and cost control initiatives.
  • Collaborate with project leadership on operational and financial planning.
  • Monitor cost drivers including labor, equipment, and utilization.
  • Identify margin improvement opportunities through operational efficiencies.

Operational Systems & Process Optimization

  • Design and implement operational systems that improve visibility and execution.
  • Analyze workflows and implement process improvements.
  • Lead adoption and optimization of enterprise platforms (HRIS, fleet, field reporting, ERP).
  • Standardize dashboards and performance analytics.
  • Build scalable operational frameworks that support growth.

Enterprise Operational Coordination

  • Ensure alignment between corporate functions and field execution.
  • Strengthen collaboration across Operations, HR, Finance, and support teams.
  • Maintain operational documentation and reporting infrastructure.
  • Improve visibility into risks, constraints, and execution progress.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as a liaison between executive leadership and operational teams.
  • Collaborate with department heads and external partners on strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with HR on workforce planning, leadership development, and culture alignment.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to improve enterprise performance.

Compliance, Risk & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain operational compliance across multi-state environments.
  • Support audits, risk reviews, and governance initiatives.
  • Implement systems that reinforce accountability and operational discipline.

Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Mentor and develop operational leaders and high-potential managers.
  • Strengthen leadership capability across distributed teams.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Build operational maturity across the organization.

Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8–10+ years of senior operational leadership experience.
  • Experience in construction, telecommunications, utilities, or infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing operational budgets and performance.
  • Strong background in process improvement and scaling operations.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience scaling regional operations into multi-state platforms.
  • Telecommunications or OSP construction background.
  • Experience implementing enterprise systems or operational transformations.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or operational excellence certifications.

  • Strong financial and operational acumen with P&L awareness.
