Murgado Automotive Group, one of the best automotive groups in the country, is seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to join our team. Located in Miami, FL we are dedicated to delivering exceptional service and providing our customers with the ultimate luxury automotive experience.
Position Overview
The Automotive Controller will have full financial oversight of assigned rooftops within our Miami automotive retail operations. This is a senior-level dealership accounting role requiring deep understanding of automotive retail operations across sales, service, parts, F and I, and manufacturer programs. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for financial integrity, internal controls, compliance with OEM standards, and active partnership with the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Close
Direct and complete month-end close within OEM deadlines
Produce accurate financial statements compliant with GAAP and manufacturer reporting standards
Review and validate all balance sheet schedules prior to submission
Ensure accuracy of factory composite reporting
Balance Sheet and Schedule Integrity
Weekly review of all balance sheet schedules
Full reconciliation of floorplan payable and interest
Reconciliation of cash in transit and clearing accounts
Oversight of contracts in transit and funding schedules
Reconciliation of warranty receivables and factory incentive receivables
Monitoring of parts inventory and obsolescence reserves
Oversight of reserve accounts and F and I chargebacks
Elimination of aged or unexplained reconciling items
Operational Oversight
Supervise Receivables, Payables, Title Clerks, and Staff Accountants
Implement and enforce strong internal controls
Review deal postings daily for accuracy of gross, incentives, and product penetration
Oversee payroll accuracy, including commission calculations
Monitor departmental expense controls and profitability
OEM and Lender Compliance
Reconcile manufacturer statements monthly
Ensure compliance with OEM accounting policies
Reconcile lender floorplan statements and curtailment schedules
Prepare documentation for internal and OEM audits
Systems Expertise
Strong proficiency in Tekion
Advanced Excel skills
Ability to implement KPI dashboards and reporting tools
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive dealership accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
High integrity and leadership capability
Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience preferred
Experience in multi-rooftop environments strongly preferred
Proficiency in dealership accounting software (Tekion preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
