The Health & Wellness Specialist is a highly mobile, expert clinical resource who supports Experience Senior Living communities through hands-on guidance, temporary leadership coverage, stabilization support, and best-practice execution. This role is 100% travel-based and is deployed to communities experiencing vacancies, transitions, performance gaps, regulatory risk, or heightened operational need within the Health & Wellness and Memory Care functions.

 

The Specialist works side-by-side with community teams, providing clinical expertise, training, coaching, and direct operational support while reinforcing ESL standards, regulatory compliance, and resident care excellence. While this role does not hold permanent supervisory responsibility, it may temporarily perform essential functions of the Director of Health & Wellness during vacancies, onboarding periods, or short-term assignments.

Clinical Leadership & Operational Support

  • Serve as an on-site clinical expert and operational resource to Executive Directors, Directors of Health & Wellness, and wellness Teams.
  • Provide hands-on support and guidance in resident assessments, care planning, medication management, staffing, documentation, clinical oversight and clinical decision-making.
  • Temporarily assume Director of Health & Wellness /Director of Memory Care responsibilities during vacancies, leaves of absence, onboarding periods, or periods of increased operational need, ensuring continuity of care and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide clinical input, manage and support resident assessment process including move-ins, transfers, and care level appropriateness when requested.
  • Support communities in addressing resident and family concerns related to care delivery, clinical decisions, or transitions.
  • Promote person-centered care practices that uphold dignity, respect, and quality of life.

Training, Coaching & Capability Building

  • Deliver side-by-side training and coaching to Health & Wellness leaders and wellness  team members, reinforcing ESL standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Support onboarding and transition of newly hired Directors of Health & Wellness through real-time guidance, mentoring, and skills check reinforcement.
  • Educate teams on resident rights, dignity, infection control, documentation standards, medication administration, and clinical workflows.
  • Reinforce accountability and consistency without assuming long-term people management authority.
  • Support communities in achieving and sustaining a “survey-ready” environment at all times.

Quality, Compliance & Risk Management

  • In partnership with Divisional support and Quality Assurance, participate in scheduled clinical audits, site visits, and operational reviews to assess compliance with ESL standards and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Identify trends in incidents, falls, medication errors, infections, and documentation gaps; partner with community and divisional leadership on corrective action planning.
  • Provide guidance during regulatory surveys, follow-up visits, or corrective action periods as directed by the SVP, Health & Wellness.
  • Ensure appropriate partnerships with ancillary service providers (home health, hospice, therapy, etc.) to support resident outcomes.

 

Collaboration & Travel

  • Partner closely with the SVP, Health & Wellness, Divisional Operations leaders, and community Executive Directors to prioritize deployments based on business need.
  • Maintain flexibility to deploy rapidly to communities across the operating and developing portfolio.
  • Provide timely feedback, observations, and recommendations following assignments to inform ongoing improvement efforts.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain required licensure across assigned states.
  • Participate in on-call or emergency clinical support as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the scope and intent of the Specialist role.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) preferred; LPN/LVN may be considered with significant senior living leadership experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical leadership experience in assisted living, memory care, or senior living health care operations in a senior living, recreation; multi-site or regional experience preferred.
  • Active, unrestricted nursing license in each assigned state (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong knowledge of assisted living regulations, clinical compliance, assessments, medication management, and quality assurance.
  • Ability to travel 100% of the time, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with systems such as Sherpa, UKG, OnShift and SharePoint preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving standards required.
