Description
At AREA 17, we believe we can help the world be more open, resilient, and optimistic. We work with clients we trust and admire across various industries, including Saint Laurent, OpenAI, the International Energy Agency, Fondation Louis Vuitton, and The New York Times. We build long-term partnerships by delivering value through brand, experience, and technology.
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to turn vision into delivery. This role connects experience strategy and technical architecture to execution, translating ambition into clear plans that keep complex projects moving forward. You will own the path from intent to outcome, ensuring work is delivered predictably, thoughtfully, and with impact.
The position
As a Senior Product Manager at AREA 17, you are accountable for delivery outcomes. You bring structure to ambiguity, align cross-functional teams and stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and at a high level of quality. This is not a purely operational role; you are expected to exercise judgment, make trade-offs, and lead with confidence in partnership with Experience and Technology teams.
Key responsibilities
Product leadership
- Own delivery planning by defining and maintaining scope, milestones, sequencing, and priorities in alignment with Experience, Technology, and the client.
- Translate experience strategy and technical architecture into clear backlogs, plans, and milestones that teams can execute without ambiguity.
- Define and track success criteria, actively managing scope and priorities to deliver value early and avoid late surprises.
- Make timely trade-offs around scope, timeline, and quality, escalating risks and decisions when needed to keep delivery moving.
Client engagement and alignment
- Serve as the primary day-to-day delivery partner for clients, ensuring clear and ongoing alignment on progress, risks, and upcoming decisions.
- Lead client demos, working sessions, and feedback reviews that drive decisions, with outcomes clearly documented and shared.
- Communicate changes and trade-offs transparently, explaining what is changing, why, and the impact on scope and timeline.
- Build trust through reliable delivery, proactive communication, and consistent follow-through.
Methodology and collaboration
- Apply a pragmatic delivery approach that enables teams to deliver high-quality, scalable work within agreed constraints.
- Identify risks and dependencies early and work with partners to define and implement mitigation plans.
- Facilitate delivery rituals so they result in clear goals, committed scope, and shared accountability.
- Maintain transparent delivery artifacts that make priorities, ownership, and risks visible to teams and clients.
Requirements
What we’re looking for
We are looking for a senior product leader with 6+ years of experience delivering complex digital products in agency, consultancy, or product-led environments. This role requires someone who has owned delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives and worked closely with designers, engineers, and clients to deliver real value under real constraints.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable operating in ambiguity and making decisions around scope, sequencing, and trade-offs, creating clarity and momentum while keeping teams and stakeholders aligned.
We are looking for someone with a strong, pragmatic grasp of agile delivery and product practices. You should be fluent in delivery tools such as Jira and Confluence, and understand how to use them to support clear planning, communication, and accountability—rather than process for its own sake.
We are looking for someone with a solid understanding of modern web technologies, APIs, and system constraints, and who can collaborate closely with engineering to assess feasibility and guide decisions. You should value strong design and product quality, and know how to advocate for them within real-world constraints.
Key capabilities
- Delivery planning & execution — Translating product vision, experience principles, and technical architecture into clear plans, backlogs, and milestones, while defining success criteria and actively managing scope and priorities.
- Cross-functional orchestration — Coordinating designers, engineers, and clients across parallel workstreams, anticipating dependencies and risks, and keeping delivery moving without sacrificing quality.
- Decision-making — Making and communicating timely decisions around scope, timeline, and quality, escalating when appropriate and helping stakeholders understand options and consequences.
- Client & stakeholder leadership — Leading client working sessions and feedback loops, driving decisions, and building trust through transparency, clarity, and follow-through.
- Communication — Communicating complex product and delivery concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring shared understanding and minimal surprises.
