Job Summary:
The PRN Front Office Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Charleston, SC location. This position involves managing patient registration and providing exceptional customer service to our patients, their families, and our healthcare providers. The role will also require adherence to established policies and procedures while utilizing our medical systems for accurate patient documentation and insurance verification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the phone, answering or directing inquiries as needed.
- Record patient arrivals in the Practice Management System (EMR).
- Verify patient identity by date of birth and name, creating new accounts when necessary.
- Prepare necessary patient paperwork prior to the patient's appointment.
- Contact patients with “No Show” appointments to reschedule and document outcomes in the system.
- Schedule patient appointments to ensure efficiency and high patient satisfaction.
- Respond to emergency situations quickly and effectively, using good judgment.
- Update patient information in the Practice Management System (EMR) as required.
- Verify insurance eligibility, financial status, and notify the Billing Department if prior authorization is needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
- Collect patient copays and manage financial information during check-in/out.
- Protect patient confidentiality and uphold the standards of patient rights.
- Follow operational policies and report any procedural changes.
- Contribute to a team-oriented environment by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Consistently demonstrate superior customer service skills in interactions.
- Answer phones in a timely and courteous manner.
- Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, providers, and team members in a professional, cooperative manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.
- May participate in supporting the clinic’s social media presence, including gathering content, sharing clinic-approved updates, and assisting with community engagement efforts as directed
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred.
- 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare office preferred.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate various shifts as needed.
