The System Administrator I (Asset Management) supports the organization’s IT environment by maintaining accurate tracking, control, and lifecycle management of hardware, software, and government-furnished property (GFP) assets. This entry-level role ensures compliance with internal policies, contract requirements, and security standards while providing day-to-day support for asset tracking systems, audits, and user requests.

Asset Management & Inventory

  • Track, record, and maintain accurate inventory of IT assets (hardware, software, peripherals, and GFP).
  • Manage asset lifecycle from procurement and receipt through deployment, transfer, and disposal.
  • Update asset records in asset management systems and ensure data accuracy.
  • Perform routine physical inventories and reconciliation of asset records.
  • Label, tag, and document assets in accordance with policy and contract requirements.

System & User Support

  • Assist users with asset-related requests, including new equipment, replacements, and returns.
  • Support basic system administration tasks related to asset tracking tools and databases.
  • Troubleshoot basic issues with asset management systems and escalate as needed.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain records to meet audit, cybersecurity, and contractual compliance standards.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and reporting for government or corporate stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper handling and documentation of sensitive or controlled equipment.

Process Improvement & Coordination

  • Follow standardized procedures for asset intake, deployment, and retirement.
  • Identify gaps or discrepancies and recommend process improvements.
  • Coordinate with IT, procurement, logistics, and security teams to ensure accurate asset flow.

Requirements

  • A Security+/SecurityX, CASP, or equivalent DoD 8570.01 IAT-2 or IAT-3 certification is required.
  • Full Secret security clearance
  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 0–2 years of experience in IT support, system administration, logistics, or asset management.
