Veterans Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our supportive and innovative team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of complex server environments and network systems for our federal clients. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring high availability, security, and performance of IT infrastructure. As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will lead a team of administrators, mentor junior staff, and work closely with various departments to drive IT initiatives that align with our organizational goals.

Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing, implementing, and managing complex server and network environments to meet the needs of clients.
  • Leading and mentoring junior systems administrators, providing guidance on best practices and technical troubleshooting.
  • Monitoring system performance and capacity, conducting routine assessments and implementing necessary upgrades or configurations.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support IT projects, ensuring infrastructure aligns with overall business objectives.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation of system architectures, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensuring security compliance and adherence to organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard data integrity.
  • Providing advanced technical support for escalated issues and working closely with service providers for resolution.
  • Managing system patches and updates, coordinating with the team to minimize downtime and risk associated with changes.
  • Evaluating new technologies and recommending solutions to enhance the overall IT infrastructure.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 5+ years of experience in systems administration; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in maintaining troubleshooting a wide variety of systems and networks to include high volume/high availability systems. Must have knowledge of debugging protocols and processes.
  • Experience with conducting routine system administration tasks and logging data in system admin logs.
  • Experience with maintaining troubleshooting a wide variety of systems and networks, including high volume or high availability systems.
  • Knowledge of debugging protocols and processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and issues identified by customers and implement corrective actions.

Travel Requirements

Travel to client locations is required for this position and may vary based on project needs.
